Pelicans tonight...

Starters: Elfrid Payton, Javonte Green, Brandon Boston Jr., Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Yves Missi

Bench: Antonio Reeves, Jamal Cain, Karlo Matkovic, Trey Jemison III

You won't find a worse 9-man rotation in an NBA game this year.

How long do perimeter players who shoot sub-20 % from 3 stay in the league? About as long as Markelle and MCW? Someone who follows Houston was saying Amens best position is center.

Amen is a wing at this point. Not sure he can play the Draymond role without adding weight but I guess it could be possible against some teams.

If Amen is going to make 60% of his 2s, have a FT rate over 50% and defend at a high level, he'll have a place in the league for a long time even if he can't shoot.

It's not even a comparison to Markelle and MCW. Those guys didn't finish like that and didn't get to the line like that.

Clippers choosing Harden on a discounted rate over Paul George is looking quietly genius right now.

Philly at least has the promise of a Maxey/McCain backcourt to fall back on.

For sure. The Amen/Tari bench unit is havoc nightly.

Ausar has nothing guard- like , nor he, at least to me, was "guard" coming into nba. Rookie year reforged that notion, i believe i said Ausar is 6'6 center several times as a joke.

Amen, to me, can be delux Batum, Igoudala type, SF-SG who can dish assists, get some points, get some rebounds ,play elite defense.
Shooting for him sucks too much to be PG. But he is plus/plus athlete even by NBA standards with discipline on defense, he is low usage, high efficiency slashing wing. That will make him lot of money and keep him in nba for very long time.

I'm way more worried about Jabari Smith. He did have good game vs Pacers ( tbh, Pacers suck this year, mediocre offense that is top 5 worst defense, that team flat out died with Haliburton's decline ) but overall Smith neither transitioned well as star player, didn't show much of potential to create own shots, isn't even that good of a defender as he was sold to be and worst of all, he can't even shoot that well (and never has passing skills to be swingman).
They sold him around draft as Durant type, Houston fans need to pray for him to even become Keegan Murray at this point. And when you see alternatives it's even uglier look. Duren, Jalen Williams, Ivey, Keegan, Sharpe , Kessler... all of them and many others are way better today.

Embiid for Zion?

Currently:

The .462 Heat is the Eastern 5 seed.

And the .533 Mavs is out of the play-ins as the current west 11 seed.

Sad.

What in the world happened to the East to implode so bad. There was so much parity last time.

Dallas is 8-7 and the Heat are 6-7. The two best teams in the league right now reside in th East.

I’m sick of this narrative, it may be true but it’s definitely overplayed.

It's not narrative, it's reality.

11 out of 15 teams on East have negative record and 12 out of 15 teams from East have negative record vs West.
Do you know how many Western conference teams have negative record vs East? One. Pelicans ( mostly due injuries).

Cavs/ Celtics will end up with +60 wins because 52 out of 82 games they play, will be vs East and whole bunch of domination over various Wizards, Raptors, Hornets, Bulls, Nets of the world.
Things take even more depressing turn when you learn that only 2 out of 15 teams from East have positive record vs teams above .500.

Celtics are clear title favorites and defending champions and Cavs are playing phenomenal basketball, but let's not get it twisted, Cavs are 12-1 vs East.
Warriors, Nuggets, OKC, Dallas cumulative record vs East : 12-2. Difference? They simply don't play vs East as often as Cavs/Celtics do.

Current pace of East is set to send someboy direct to playoffs with 35 wins

Simons is a lack of motivation and Cole a lack of confidence.

I don’t think our FO goes after a player who can’t self motivate.

If i'm Houston fan i would be pretty damn pissed about notion of starting Jabari over Tari.
Tari is what Jabari was sold to be. Can make open shots, is pest on defense, is efficient, gets crazy amount of deflactions, steals, blocks... Jabari on other hand is... Toby Harris without talent for scoring?
