Wow, I'm shocked. Something's got to give. I'm fed up with the front office not giving a **** about the offense. This team is a chaos.

I agree he has aura points and lifts the team, I just think they legitimately stink right now even if he's playing. I'm as patient as anyone, but it really does look like they have been figured out by the league.
Maybe I'm wrong and they just start winning again. But something feels off and I would usually be one to not overreact to a small sample set of games.
We will see I guess!
It would be one thing to be the 20th best offense in the league but to be the absolute worst over the last month and second to last for the whole season? Fire alarms should be going off. Not to mention the slide on defense…
Yeah I agree. And I'm seeing tangible things that opposing teams are doing. They know what works on both ends, it seems the book is out. It doesn't really feel flukey to me. I don't think they are this bad, but I mean even if they are a .500 team going forward that would mean big changes are needed.
We'll see though, I don't even know what they can or should really do at the deadline at this point. I know they probably need some serious roster turnover in the summer though.

I missed most of this game, was at Disney as my wife's plus 1. Glad I did. Looks pathetic.

Suggs being out has hurt.
Paolo has been really really bad on that end. Like it can not be understated how bad he has been.
That plus Wendell has absolutely no clue how to guard basic PnR's anymore and has had increased minutes because of Goga injury.

Went back and watched our offensive plays from the first half.
We were not getting good looks on plays where Paolo and Franz were screening for each other.
KCP was most effective in generating good looks on our screen handoff set.
Cole actually looks like a point guard. Ran the pick and roll, under control, got to the rim, shot.

I think this team is done for the year. You don’t get punked this bad unless the players have checked out. The lack of shooting overtook them and demoralized their will and fight. Team is done. Don’t expect much for trade deadline but significant improvements on guard play and shooting is an extreme need in the summer. No excuses WePark. None.

Re: 2024-2025 Regular Season Game 49: Orlando Magic (24-24) at Portland Trail Blazers (18-29) - 10pm
Oh boy.
Last year, whole season long, i couldn't shake up feeling we are playing above our heads, with whole bunch of injury lucky breaks (pretty much middle East was walking hospital ).
I think i even wrote that we are .500 team that just went on 9 wins streak and people changed opinion about our future after that.
In retrospective, we weren't THAT great last year either, we just were healthier and won whole bunch of games by implementing war of attrition as strategy.
People forget how many games we won only and just only because of our bench was amazing.
Just quick reminder:
last year bench:
41,5 ppg - 3rd most in nba
plus minus +1,2 / 6th best in nba
net rating +1,8 / - 8th best in nba
offensive rating 66,2 - second best in nba
True shooting percentage (TS) - 59% - 4th highest in nba
Where are we now?
37,8 ppg - 9th in nba
plus minus - 1,3 / 9th worst
net rating -2,0 / 9th worst
offensive rating 57,5 - 8th best
true shooting percentage 53% - second worst
It's a massive decline in quality. our bench went from our biggest strength to ... this. Definition of mediocrity on high volume as we play bench 3rd most time in nba.
In reality last year we credited Franz but especially Banchero for things kind a rest of a team did.
There is good reason why most advanced stats really didn't like Banchero last year. The way he has been playing this year just mirrors why advance stats still don't like him.
He is good player, but he won't become top 10-ish player without elite guard next to him and massive mental changes.
And ever since first part of a season and success he had as solo star, Franz is falling victim to same issues Banchero has. Hero ball, iso plays, ball hogging, ball stopping.
We blame our role players for not hitting shots, and sure, they suck at it, but literally nobody has desire to play defense like crazy and go on 5 min ball touching drought on offense. It sucks life out of team.
This is Houston Rockets ( young team, few veterans, playing above a head) shot distribution tonight:

Lowest FGA taken by starter - 9 . Highest 21 ( Green and his chucking )
This is Orlando's shot distribution

out of 49 FGA, Franz & Banchero took 40. Good luck playing serious basketball with your two best players thinking they are prime Wade & Lebron. But they never froze their teammates in such fashion. This is more like Iverson and Melo or hell, this feels like iso Joe Johnson & Josh Smith.

No lie.
Realistically it wouldve been alot better for expectations if our team fell apart completely after Paolo went out with the oblique injury
The moment both Paolo & Franz tore their obliques, was the moment the season was over. We dont have the personnel to overcome that and their ramp up while dealing with the other injuries we've been having.

Please can we stop talking about aggression. The reason AB looks like he looks is lack of skills/shooting and lack of speed. He looks good when the defense gives him opportunities like fastbreak, unsettled defense, open lanes, overhelping.... As soon as he gets defended normal he got no tools to counter that.
