*Jabari for Cam is a nice move for a rebuild, WCJ is still young enough to be a nice piece in their frontcourt, complementary to Claxton. BRK has a ton of cap space, but they'd be hard pressed to land a bigger young prospect than Jabari. They're still early in their rebuild.

HOU sends: FVV, Jabari Smith
HOU gets: Cam Johnson, KCP, Jett Howard
*Amen takes over at PG, Cam adds elite shooting (Jett offers possibility of same), KCP adds vet toughness, elite 3&D - ready for playoff contention. HOU still has tons of assets to make another move. Jabari was due a payday and Eason and Cam will make him expendable anyway.

You created 2025/26 Orlando:
VanVleet/Black/xxxxx
Suggs/Anthony/Howard
F-Wagner/da Silva/xxxxx
Banchero/Isaac/xxxxx
Bitadze/M-Wagner/xxxxx

The Magic FRP and two/three LLE vets to round out the roster.

My thoughts. a) I HATE VanVleet/ b) I LOVEEEEEEE this trade. If VanVleet might-maybe be answer to guard ineptitude, heck, roll the dice WePark. You're gonna be unemployed soon without risking this sort of chance. Do something/anything!

p.s. that Jabari Smith is a throw in, and the Magic was projected to draft him, WOW

MIN, BOS, PHX, and, coming soon, OKC & HOU will have compromises to consider as their payroll gets nutty when the new CBA really bares its teeth. None of the teams will be willing to take too large a setback as they are all (hopeful) contenders. Which players on the fringe of their cores might be shipped out to save future cap flexibility?

MIN...Naz Reid and NAW are, apparently, high priority re-signings for them. Maybe they'll just let Randle walk, but that seems like a major absence...a SnT for Randle would be unlikely to return more on-court value either, assuming Randle commands another significant deal. There's not a lot of FA money out there, so maybe some of the teams here will play hardball. Anyway... I would LOVE to get Donte Divencenzo somehow. Maybe they'd swap him straight up for WCJ to give them more leverage with their two big guys in limbo (Reid & Randle) as they'd be happy to let either one go if their demands are unrealistic. As Dillingham & Shannon and a re-upped NAW ascend, DDV suddenly looks expendable.

OKC & HOU are in such awesome shape with contending young talent, tons of picks and prospects, etc...but LOTS of extensions loom for both. Either could contend right now, as is, but maybe they throw one more switch for win-now urgency over future development...they both know they have enough draft equity to re-tool anytime, but you don't sleep on contention - ever! Would love to peel off guys like Topic, Isaiah Joe, Reed Sheperd or even Cam Whitmore or Jabari Smith if some vet acquisition makes them somewhat redundant at the same time they're angling for a big raise. Obviously, we face the same financial pressures soon too - but we could pull off one more significant acquisition before turning our attention to unloading freeloaders and bad fits for role players at the right price point (before the $$$ s**t hits the fan).

BOS might have to move a starter...likely Jrue (who's really too old to bet that big salary on) or Porzingis (who is not unlike Isaac in his historical injury issues) and also makes a ton. IF Derrick White or Pritchard unlikely became available...those would be good guys to talk about. On a smaller scale, Sam Hauser would help us and does make enough to force BOS to consider it...they've got Schiermann ascending on a srp rookie salary.

I was really hoping the twins Amen / Assaur were overhyped but in reality it can't be further from the truth. Hoping that we had a diamond in the rough in Black. But alas, it just doesn't look that way. Best player at his position? Probably. Sure. Best player available at the time in a redraft? not sure. Would really have to look at it again.

Really wish we snagged one of them

Quiet as its kept, the Magic are desperately in need of more athleticism. Which is concerning considering we're also a young team but still struggling in that department. Either one of them wouldve helped in that category.

We need an insane athlete. Isaac was previously that guy to an extent but injuries have sapped that away.

Jett and Harris plus 2 second round picks for DLo. DLo is a free agent, so we could just opt out if Jett and Harris ' contracts and offer DLo the MLE.

Yea, it's one of the most underrated problems of this roster. We are really unathletic. It's funny. It was always said Weltman just drafts athletes with long wingspan but without offensive skills. In reality he built a roster without much off. skill, high level athletes (except Suggs but he is more a straight line athlete) or wingspan.

Unathletic long boys

tbh neither Bamba nor Isaac were some epic athletes, just long. Bamba allegedly was fast in combine sprints, but due how unskilled he is it never really showed.

I'm not that big fan of Ausar, never was, Amen is bland of crazy athletics and guy is very skilled so his athletics "pop" more.

D'Angelo Russell is a free agent. If you are suggesting a SnT for around the MLE; why would the Magic not just sign him?

It is basically a two year, 30M deal that you are proposing. As Harris, M-Wagner, Joseph, and Houstan are all coming off of the books, Orlando has space for such a deal out-right (and then probably resigns M-Wagner and Houstan afterwords).

That is: this is not a MLE. It's just a NBA contract.

His trade only makes sense if the goal is to also get off Jett’s deal. I wouldn’t mind that…$5m here and there will help.

Getting of Howard's deal will matter to the cap and is worth him in a throw in for a SnT.

I'm happy with Black, I really am. I am hoping by year 3 he puts this to rest. Both of those kids are doing well, which is what I want to see, it is also human to always hope you win every single draft. Notice, I really haven't mentioned anyone after Black, because well. We could have likely gotten someone with the Jett Howard pick....OOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFF.

It’s not the name our fans want, but there is someone who had quietly been much better this season, can score, is on a team that wants what we have to offer (good contracts and picks), and fits our age window:

Jordan Poole.

I could see the Magic making this trade rather easily if they want it and it being a decent fit with our squad.

Again, it’s not the name fans want (for some reason FVV gets brought up here daily as if he isn’t currently on a contending team who really values him), but Poole is actually plausible.

Simons is another option but the Blazers have consistently waffled on whether he is even available.

Weltman has really painted this team into a corner with how much he has kicked the can down the road. Now this team has to accomplish the feat of doing a consolidation trade, getting a point guard, staying under the apron, and somehow improving the team’s offense all in one offseason. Poole checks a lot of those boxes and the team he plays for is one of the only openly rebuilding teams who would covet our draft picks.

Just throwing it out there. I fully expect a lot of hate on this post because it’s not a sexy name. It’s a realistic one though.

I actually do think Poole could be an option. And not just because of the Michigan ties

You almost have to throw out the last two years with Washington because that was a tanking team where nothing mattered and putting a guy like that on a team with no structure is asking for trouble.

The two years before that though...

30 MPG over 76 games on a team that won the NBA title
30 MPG over 82 games on a team that went to the second round

Get him back on a team that is actively trying to win and can ideally provide him some structure and some of the more active knucklehead stuff might go by the wayside.

The other thing about Poole is that the perception of his contract is such where I don't think the Magic would actually have to sacrifice much in terms of draft picks to get something done. He's owed $31.8M next year and then $34M in 26-27. That is a large enough amount that I think the Magic might be able to get away with just matching salary and not much more than that.

Something like...

Cole, Gary, Jett, two 2nds for Poole

Wizards get off Poole's $34M in 26-27 by essentially taking on expiring deals while getting a look at a 21 year old former lotto pick.

The problem is that Poole isn't really a point guard, so he doesn't solve that issue. And while he's shot the ball well from 3PT this year (.381% on 9.2 attempts per game), he's never actually been a *great* three point shooter either.

Ultimately, I'd would pass on him for those two reasons, but I could see this being a guy the Magic go after because the cost would be minimal.

All very true. A trade of Cole Anthony, Gary Harris and Goga works too. Heck, those three even SEEM like Wizards players

The thing I’m really struggling with is what is actually doable realistically. So many players and teams aren’t good fits for what we have to do this offseason. On top of that, I would be highly surprised if Weltman is ready to break up the trio of Franz, Paolo, and Suggs this early when this season we didn’t get to see what they looked like on the floor together.

One more thing to add: there aren’t many 25 year olds out there who took on the scoring load for WINNING teams when their stars had off games.

This almost makes too much sense now that I think about it. AB as a backup this early in his development eases some stress from that situation as well.

Two of these four would solve a lot of our problems: Tyus, Brogdon, Clarkson, Bogdanović.

I think Tyus is my top target.

I have a weird feeling they are going to go with a veteran stopgap PG like Brogdon (probably too hurt to be anything but a flyer), Tyus, Smart or Mike Conley. I don't think people will be super happy with it

I think getting someone who can be a part of the core like Reaves (could we even afford his extension?) or Nembhard would be ideal and if I am paying a premium pick for a guard I'd rather just add some more stuff and get a guy like that, the thing is I'm not sure either of those guys or someone like them is available.

And I could see the front office not wanting to pay a premium price on the no defense arguably not even PG guys that we always mention (Simons/Sexton/White). Those guys would also require an extension which makes them even less valuable.

Yeah, and it makes sense too. We need some offense first guards that don’t detract from Paolo and Franz, so veterans like Tyus or Brogdon make a lot of sense for the starting group and Clarkson or Bogdanović make a lot of sense for the bench group.

The issue comes down to the combination of contracts between.

Cole/Suggs/AB/KCP

No chance anyone is acquired while all of those players are on the roster.

I agree with you on someone more long-term. Unfortunately, I think the only long term option we get is another draft pick and not a young up and coming prospect via trade. Weltman has proven he isn’t the guy to pull that off.

It’s likelier that they do nothing and roll out the same lineup. Thats been their go to.

If Brogdon could play…why did WAS just let him expire? He’s clearly out or they would have at least collected some srps. A healthy Brogdon is worth quite a bit more, but I don’t think that guy exists anymore.
