I guess I'll just agree to disagree. I don't see how he plays winning basketball, and certainly don't see how he keeps Dwight around. Monta Ellis or Deron Williams is not exactly a difficult choice.

Dwight asked for Ellis. It would give us a better chance at keeping Dwight than the team we currently have.

Dwight also asked for a trade.

Dooooom and gloooooom...

Serious, you act like we have a choice here!? Deron may be a better fit for us that Monta, but i actually think Lebron would work better in our system, so why dont we trade JJ and Ryno for him? Oh, wait. They arent on the trading block. Deron will NEVER be traded to us from New Jersey, they are our direct rivals right now, so why even bother mentioning Deron?

Fact is, Monta is available, and he is basically the only thing left that can keep Dwight in town, so you do anything it takes to get him..

I think Monta Ellis can help and be the scorer The Magic need.

However, I do not believe he is that second star even though he would help in being able to create his own shot which this team desperately needs.

The Magic would need more to compete with the big guns than just Ellis and we do not know what they would give up in a potential deal yet. My hope is before any deal, Dwight Howard would decline to opt out.

It's all just a rumor though but The Magic are going to try and make something happen.

i see your bronze and raise it to gold. i am also willing to put two basketball sized balls instead of regular ones, because one must have cannonballs to pull a trade like that.

shadrock,

I still chat with a few people but Jarrod Rudolph does a lot more of that than I do. While he gets a lot of heat around here, I do believe he is legit and support him. Just because he tells of a rumor and no trade happens does not mean talks did not happen. I think his Kobe Bryant story was correct and more people believe that now.

What I do know is the Magic are trying.

The thing about rumors though is 99 percent of what you hear never happens. I tend to use my own knowledge of the game when determining how legit a rumor is.

They are going to try though and even though Dwight is a threat to leave for New Jersey, what they are offering is just not worth it.

I see whats going on. Warriors are threatening to trade Ellis to Orlando in order for NJ to flinch.
Howard has stated he would like to play with Ellis and if Ellis is in Orlando Howard has more reason to stay in Orlando becuase of Ellis and becuase of 30million dollars. NJ probably misses on Howard and most likely looses Deron also.
Now if NJ trades Lopez plus extra like the Warriors want for Ellis they get a better chance of signing Howard and Orlando is left with less of a chance to sign Howard.

Well, Otis definitely has cajones. I mean, he did trade for Gilbert AND Hedo.......on the same day.

I think it could be a good possibility because it takes another player Dwight wants off the board.

I think they are going to move Lopez eventually (they will likely match any offer) if Dwight signs outright and it makes sense to get a scorer to pair with Dwight and Deron.

If they get Ellis, it could really sweeten the deal even more for Dwight to head to Brooklyn.

I'm not sure Ellis would fit but they will do everything to get Dwight.

Wow, that would actually be a really smart move on behalf of the Warriors. Basically using the pressure of the Dwight situation against the Nets, in order to maximise a potential return for Monta. If you dont give us what we want, your going to lose your shot at Dwight, and most likely Deron in the offseason.

It would be nice to get Ellis, but at what cost? Looking at the tracker, Nelson/Anderson gets it done.

I'm not surprised the Nets or other teams are now trying to move in on Ellis and undercut us... nature of the business

Is there enough ball to go around for Monta, D-Will and Dwight?

sadly, yeah it does.

Brooklyn probably should look to move Lopez now for that perfect 3rd piece to go with Dwight and Deron - rather than waiting for an s&t.

Orlando need to find a way to make an offer for Ellis that trumps Lopez.

I'm thinking something involving either Utah, with Jefferson going to GSW, or New Orleans, with Kaman going to GSW. Those are the two best, most attainable, C's.

We do have one asset that people are forgetting about. It would risky and stupid to trade it, but Otis is probably desperate.

Our 2013 unprotected 1st round pick. Prepare to kiss it goodbye.

Would Lopez for Ellis even work financially? If they did that could they still sign dwill and Dwight to max contracts?

Slept on it, and I'm still thinking that giving up Anderson is too much, but I'm more torn on it. Ellis is enticing. Top 5 scoring guard and top 10 guard overall. Lack of efficiency could be either a flaw of function or role, but even if it is a product of function he is potent as is if not better than Anderson. If it is a product of role though, he could have a higher ceiling than Anderson and would be worth the trade. His situation strikes me as a bit like Melo's. Melo is extremely talented big time scorer, but just limited enough to hold him back from top 5 discussions. Ellis is like that just less talented. With Melo if you need that #1 option player he will suffice, but you are going to need to put more talent around him than you would some of the other #1 options, like Durant or Wade or Rose or LeBron, because he does struggle with efficiency and has deficits on defense that you'll need to plug up. With Ellis, it is even more glaring and while he can be your #1 offensive option I'm not at all convinced he can be your best player. Most likely it is a issue with function for Ellis, and he just doesn't have the full package to be a truly elite player. So then you ask, what is more valuable, a highly efficient stretch 4 that rebounds or a big time dynamic guard? Drexler and Hakeem won but Ellis is no Drexler in terms of efficiency and all around game. Other comparisons are an even bigger stretch, such as young Kobe.
