No, they can’t.
You are going to have 3 guys plus Paolo play PF? Nope.
No thanks.
+1
Paolo is playing 34 mpg. That means there’s 14 backup PF mpg. That’s enough minutes for 1 backup player. And none of those guys can slide in to take SF minutes either. So 4 guys splitting 48 center minutes and 14 backup PF minutes. That’s ~16 mpg for each player. That isn’t going to work.
Isaac has the quickness to play small forward, and he’s a good enough perimeter defender that he should be on swingman scoring threats. You lose ballhandling on offense, but you get Isaac’s jabstep game and postup game in return. Imo, ballhandling from the sf slot isn’t so precious that we should be entertaining trades of quality players just to keep it.
It literally doesn’t matter what position you
think JI is playing. Paolo is playing the majority of games, and when he is you can bet most of the time he is playing next to a true Center whether that’s Carter, Goga, or Moe.
Last time I checked Isaac hasn’t started once this season or played consistently more than 20mpg, so the position debate doesn’t really matter much. He’s been relegated to defending other teams best player or attempting jumpers at a low volume.
He’s basically inconsequential to lineup arguments about Centers entirely because he’s situational and there are 3 on the roster needing minutes. You can start making that argument when there are only 2 on the roster and Isaac starts filling in. He isn’t and that’s not the case.
These are the arguments people had with AG starting at SG with Isaac at SF. Completely inconsequential nonsense that we never saw happen. Franz and Paolo are getting the lions share of minutes regardless and Suggs is going nowhere anytime soon from the starting lineup. With Anthony Black and Jett being selected you can guarantee nobody in the front office plans on Isaac being in the starting lineup.
