Talks between the Magic and Nets reached the ownership level before Otis Smith began to inform teams that Dwight Howard had been removed from trade consideration.

Howard told teammates on Tuesday that he thought the trade to the Nets was a “done deal,” a league source told Y! Sports. Twenty-four hours later on Wednesday, Howard told them he was under the impression that “ownership killed it,” the source said.

What does "ownership level" mean? This whole story doesn't make sense.

If we were to get Pau we wouldnt need to trade him to Houston then be stuck with Martin J Rich JJ all the same type of players we would need to trade Pau for a top 3 pick

My doctor said it's not healthy for me to view this thread anymore. Then he prescribed me depression medication for when Dwight leaves :(

Unreal. The NBA is making Dell Demps talk on a conference call with David Stern tonight. Just unreal.

I feel so bad for Demps... maybe he'd like to be our GM... let's do a Demps for Otis swap

Fact of the matter is, the Magic don't have much to gain by trading him now. I think they gain the most by holding on to him. The new CBA makes it a lot harder for him to leave in the summer if we have him still. I don't think people are seeing what kind of decision and options he'll have if he's still here. I've already made a lengthy post about it and no one responded, but I really think you gotta take a look at the CBA changes and see what kind of situation he'll be forced and the pros and cons of staying or leaving. In my eyes, if we keep him til summer, the best decision he can make for himself is opt-in one more year.

There's very little reason to trade him right now. So people whining that they can't take it anymore, strap in, because this SHOULD go all season.

Why? That was what NO was going to get for Paul and everyone thought it was a fair deal. As a matter of fact, the Hornets were getting a player of lesser caliber in Odom rather than Bynum.

The Magic would get Kevin Martin (legit scorer), Scola (legit PF), and Bynum (potential all star) for Dwight. We would also get rid of Hedo's contract. Name me a better deal?

Exactly, so why should that change now? In my eyes, as a fan who wants to hold on to Dwight til summer, no news is good news.

This.

He's acting like a punk... i'd let him walk, lose millions and build from the bottom up. I can handle being bottom feeders for some good picks. I can't handle letting him get everything he wants while we're just mediocre/s*** for years and years to come

Honestly guys, are you really going to believe this crap? Like someone said above, this twitter "sources" say this crap is getting to be ridiculous. How many people would like to see the magic succeed out there? They'd much rather report things regarding Howard joining up with another superstar, Hell, everyone at ESPN despises us except for Jalen Rose and Charles Barkley. As far as we know, what's truly been said, is we want to keep Howard and Howard loves Orlando and he wants to stay given some changes with culture and his relationship with management.

It's not the end of the world if Woj wants to spread some gossip about overhearing teammates saying Dwight told them "the Nets was a done deal". Like others have said, unless you hear it from Otis/Martins/ or Dwight, don't believe it. I am getting tired of twitter spreading rumors.
