Superman to the rescue!

Yup... Starting to make sense. If this is what it takes to get Dwight to sign that long term deal, so be it.

I don't see why you guys are complaining about Shaq, he left damn near 20 yrs ago.

It is actually refreshing hearing big names that want to work for the organization for once.

The Magic believe the presence of O'Neal within the front office would help their chances of retaining Howard. Sources close to O'Neal and Howard contend they have a friendly relationship. O'Neal has been a confidante to Howard throughout the season as he has dealt with an uncertain future with the franchise.

If he's GM, the President of Basketball Operations has to be a seasoned vet like Walsh or Pritchard. Still, I just don't like the idea of bringing Shaq back to ORL.

if shaq is hired at least hire walsh as president of operations to oversee him. things keep getting crazier for the magic.

Only way I see this making sense is if the President of Basketball Operations is a someone with experience.

This is a joke of a move. The scary thing is that Shaq has championship experience.

If this what it takes to keep Howard, then we are screwed. I rather trade Howard and get a competent GM that actually has experience.

I doubt Walsh would want to work with Shaq. He wanted full control in NY. That's why he is available.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
In Orlando's stated intent to hire a GM with championship pedigree, Boston assistant GM Ryan McDonough's candidacy could gather momentum.

I`m pretty sure if Shaq is the Gm, he would trade Dwight for Bynum; remember his rant on Bynum being the "best" big man, he will probably give our first round pick to the Lakers. I`m tired of first time GM`s, we need people with more experience.

I'm not going to lie, I'd be nervous as hell about Shaq the GM. Can't help but think he'd be uber amateurish.

same. just listening to him on tnt proves he doesn't have what it takes to be a gm. we would be the joke of the league

I would much rather hear Barkley's name over Shaq's.

The only positive that comes out of this is that we finally get to see Chris Webber on TNT full time.

i'm wondering what positives Shaq would bring to the table...

- knows what to look for in a coach (someone who can handle egos, someone who can handle big men, etc)
- knows what to look for in a sidekick to a dominant big man (has played with Kobe and Wade)
- has achieved everything Dwight wants to achieve (MVP, championships, starred in crappy movies)
- they both have the chance to build a legacy in Orlando

apart from that, there's all the negatives that would come along with it.
- what's his negotiation skills like?
- can he keep his ego in check?
- can he evaluate talent?

etc etc etc
