From this point on, no more talk about Jason Thompson. Agreed?

Getting him for the MLE would be cool if we didnt have like six PF's already
he plays center, why is everyone calling him a PF?
because hes listed as a PF/C and almost every site has him listed as a F.

Playing next to the black hole that is DeMarcus Cousin's didn't exactly make it easy for JT to get his. But when given minutes, it's hard to criticize his play. I think too often fans will look at stat numbers and form an opinion of a player before even analyzing him or his game more carefully. But if you're a stat follower, feel free to take a look at JT's numbers. I'd imagine based on 40 min a game, you'd see a nice stat line...and I think there is significant upside to his game still.

Again, I can't stress enough how I think giving Bynum a max contract that he won't play out being healthy to the end would be a huge mistake for the Magic.
I think Thompson is a fine piece to have on a team, but I honestly just don't see him fitting into the same conversation as Howard or Bynum from a skill perspective. He's just not at their level.
What I notice about Thompson is for some reason, he plays most of his team's games but he doesn't start them all - only about 2/3 - and that's consistent across his career. His best year - what I think you can expect from him - was about 32 MPG, averaging around 12.5/8.5.
I don't know why he doesn't start every game, and I don't know why he has only played around 25 MPG the past two years. I do know he's on a Sacramento team that was not that great, and he didn't have a significant impact, which makes me question his ability to play a key role versus being a secondary contributor on a top-tier team.
When healthy Bynum is better than JT. Not arguing that. I will argue that he is less of a risk, has a better chance at playing out his contract healthy, would be cheaper and is not limited to playing PF. I don't know why people keep saying that all he is is a PF. If wer're gonna assume that he's bad because he couldn't get playing time in Sacramento, then I think that's another poor reason to go off of. I hope nobody needs a lesson about all the former Magic players who weren't All-Stars here but left and ended up having stellar NBA careers. Bottom line is you have to evaluate the player and not just his situation.

I blame Dan Fegan. Probably trying to change the subject in a blatant attempt to disrupt all the negative Dwight postings.

That "C" in PF/C stands for Center.
He can play it.

Lopez is worse than Thompson. If were talking about moving on past the Dwight era, Thompson, who is a RFA is an option currently out there.

sure, lets talk realistic things, like S&T Jameer Nelson for another teams star player. or Jason Richardson for any teams 1st round pick.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXI: Off-Season Editio
If it comes down to Lopez or Jason Thompson, I say keep Dwight for the year and let him walk. Then, re-sign BBOrton and develop the young guys.
Because, to me, I think the Magic could do better in the draft and BBD or Orton are probably better than Lopez or Thompson.

it looks like lakers trying to pawn off their bad contracts on the magic instead of vice versa. also there is a reason why sac is not interested in resigning jason thompson, hes their earl clark.
