If we see Gordon as a SF then the depth chart looks like this.
Oladipo/Payton
Fournier/Gordon/Green/(Marble)
Harris/Harkless/A. Gordon
Frye/Harris/A. Gordon/Nicholson
Vucevic/O'Quinn
I'm sure Gordon will split minutes b/t SF and PF just to get playing time.
EDIT: Tweet was deleted. Summary: Wes Unsled Jr. says he sees Gordon as a 3.

Hmm that worries me. Hopefully that's just his opinion and not the plan.

OT but I can't wait to play 2K15 with this team. It sucked playing with our post Dwight Era rosters lol. Even the Dwight Era teams weren't that fun to play with but this team is going to be great! Dipo and AG dunking on fools.. Fournier and Frye splashing 3s.. Can't wait!

He's not getting traded
1. Aaron Gordon is CLEARLY not ready to be the starting four at this point. he's very raw and its going to take some time for him to develop. Hence, why Frye was signed here.
2. Aaron Gordon is a four... This nonsense of him being a 3 is ridiculous. Reason why they drafted him was to COMPLIMENT Harris at the 3. Because a traditional four who doesn't have Gordon's skill set and athleticism wouldn't be able to mask Harris's deficiencies. (Also Vucevic) Its the same reason why they signed Frye to help with the spacing for Oladipo/Harris/Payton...
They're CLEARLY building around Oladipo/Vucevic/Harris.

However, there'll probably be a ton of outrage by Magic fans regarding the fact that our NUMBER FOUR pick in the draft isn't starting. IDK, but JV has a lot of lineups to play around with.
I agree that this is the most likely lineup...however I could see it being Dipo and Fournier with Payton coming off the bench to start the season.
As far as the number 4 pick coming off the bench...I really don't get the outrage by some over this proposition. Have people already forgotten that Dipo only started 44 games and was the number 2 pick. Doesn't look like his growth has been stunted from that, at all.
Who will spread the floor when both Payton and A. Gordon are on the floor?
Second Unit:
Payton
B. Gordon
A. Gordon
Nicholson
KOQ
*That's if A. Gordon plays SF. How much do you agree with that proposed lineup?
I still think combining Frye with A. Gordon and Payton would be the best combination, though.
Aaron Gordon shot 36% from three last season when he was a Wildcat, and all indications are he has made significant improvements to his shot since then. I dont see why he couldnt step that figure up a bit this season to say 38%. That is a VERY good percentage. He wont have issues spacing the floor. Have never understood this. Now scoring in the post? Thats a work in progress...

He is the perfect 6th man in my opinion. Could come in at either of the forward spots and give instant offence.

If the long term plan is to bring him off the bench, he'll be looking for the first way out of here.

Why not? The usual reason a rookie doesnt start is because they are a liability on defense. Look at Harkless, he started as soon as he came to the Magic because of his defense. Payton has great D and is a great facilitator. Im not saying he will start at PG, but hes definately in the running, especially considering the alternative is to play Dipo at PG (not ideal).

I think he gives the bigger mismatch advantage if he plays at SF. He can easily defend other SF's, and offensively, if he grows a few more inches as one would expect an 18 year old to do, he would have a HUGE size and strength advantage.

Why? Do you think he has an overinflated ego like Carmelo or something? Because he has always looked humble and willing to do what it takes for the team in my view. He could still play 30+ minutes off the bench. Players who get caught up on starting and crap like that have serious ego problems.

I don't think he has an overinflated ego but when you're capable of starting on most teams (I'm projecting 2-4 years out) you don't want to come off the bench. Coming off the bench usually hurts a player's value and therefor becomes a detriment to his future earning potential.

I like Aaron Gordon (eventually when the shot develops) at the SF-first tweener spot. I like T12 off the bench as a sixth man.

Did it hurt Harden or Ginobili's value? A players talent are what earn him value.

Harden left the second he could. Not a great example.

Re: Official Speculation Thread Part 1 (Summer League 2014)
Right now I like Oladipo|Harris|Vucevic as the core around which most of our lineups will be built.
I think Fournier and Frye compliment that core the best on paper and that would be the SL I'd bet on right now.
I like a pure bench lineup of Payton|B.Gordon|Harkless|A.Gordon|O'Quinn.
We are nowhere near contenders, obviously, as our core doesn't have a single all-star and players 5-11 all have question marks (I think Frye is our 4th best player and he is a known quantity). However, I am very optimistic that we can contend for a playoff berth as long as we figure out the right combinations of players to place around Oladipo|Harris|Vucevic. I also think one of those three can make an all star game this year, with my money on Vucevic.

Re: Official Speculation Thread Part 1 (Summer League 2014)
My ideal version of the lineup is........
Starters
Oladipo
Fournier
Harris
Frye(i just gave up being mad and accepted it)
Vucevic
Explanation: I think that's the best lineup early on in the season, i think you have to have a secondary ballhandler with passing ability playing alongside Oladipo. Fournier checks all those boxes plus he's a pretty decent shooter so with all the space that Frye allegedly will create he will have options.
Bench
PG: Payton/Curry
SG: B.Gordon/Green
SF: Harkless/A.Gordon
PF: O'Quinn/Gordon/Nicholson(feel sorry for him)
C: Dedmon/O'Quinn
Damn as i type this i realize that we have log jam as far as our Big are concerned. Are we done trading? we got to get rid of some of these guys don't we? I feel Nicholson is getting a raw deal, he has shown promise but got his confidence shaken by our own coaching staff. O'Quinn and Dedmon are looking possibly reduced minutes, i don't know how we're going to distribute the minutes and keep everyone happy? Maybe it's time to cash that D-league team check, who do we send down to Erie?
