Plus VC was always a consummate professional. Otis really needed to play the line-up-the-ducks for a FA game instead, but honestly, with how D12 tapered out after injuries even that is becoming all a moot point too.
I wasn’t aware people considered Vince a bust here. He wasn’t Hedo, and Stan clearly missed Hedo’s playmaking skill, but Vince did bring scoring.
We needed him to be the Nets Vince Carter but it seems as soon as he got here, he began his decline.
It didn't help that Shard began a slide that year as well. If Shard had played to the previous years level, that 09-10 team may have been the best Magic team of all-time. Despite this they had a great year, especially after the all-star break where I believe they lost only 1 game or maybe 2 until the playoffs. It was an amazing run until they ran into the much hungrier, and ready for revenge Celtics in the ECF. I will never forget Rondo chasing down loose ball from well behind Jason Williams.
On a side note, I remember an interview with Dwight right after VC was signed in the summer. Dwight made fun of Vince calling him "half man, half retired" which was a direct pun of "half man, half amazing." Ironic that Dwight is now the same age Vince was when he signed with the Magic, and being on a one year deal, Dwight's stint in the league has legitimate potential to end at the same time VC's does.
