Magic move away from Center-driven offense to versatile wing. Putting a lot of faith in Hayward as a hub and star-type. Theis and Kanter hold Bamba’s spot until he’s ready and add vet savvy off the bench (eventually). Assuming all players exercise options. I’d like to see Evan without Vuc. Lots of wings in this draft too. Fultz takes the next step with some serious ball movement and more emphasis on perimeter offense. I’d like to see a little of Isaac at C with Hayward at point PF at times. Financial considerations but exciting on the court. If Fultz and Isaac flatline, we’re dead, if they progress.
Fultz, DJ?, MCW
Fournier, Ross
Hayward, Okeke
Isaac, Aminu
Theis, Bamba, Kanter
BOS moves into contention. Vuc adds scoring, floor spreading, passing, elite defensive rebounding. One more weapon for a Bos team bringing waves of scoring threats. AG adds versatile frontcourt toughness on D, cutting and finishing off of offensive stars. He’ll NEVER see a double team. BOS gives a good (but maybe growing redundant with young star wings emerging) player but gains tremendous upgrades in two areas they lack. I think AG could be missing piece for a contending team like BOS or BRK who have scoring stars but lack a versatile Iggy/Marion/Kirilenko guy to solidify on both ends. Would be tough to watch AG go off but...
Walker, Wanamaker
Brown, Smart
Tatum, Langford
Gordon,
Vucevic, Williams, Tacko

Just doing checkup on AG's 3pt shooting...he increased his % nearly every year and peaked last season at a very respectable 34.9%. This season, he inexplicably dropped to .301 (nearly 50 percentage points!)...he's known as a hard worker with a great attitude...why then, is he labeled, so definitively, as a "bad shooter"?
If he and Isaac were both shooting 35%+ from downtown and developing chemistry as cutters, etc...why can't they co-exist? Defensively, they are fine, both can cover nearly anyone. Surely, they would each be more valuable than one-dimensional gunners if they could improve just a bit from downtown. The whole SF/PF debate (I think) seems to be primarily about offensive spacing and shot creation. I and others have been focusing trade ideas on AG for shooters...What would it take for them to flourish together?
Vuc and Bamba can both play some D and spread the floor. If Bamba learns how to play in the NBA, he could join them as an incredible frontline defensively. What % does Fultz need to shoot 3's to be a legit 20+ ppg scorer (he already penetrates like few in the league-even with defenders largely daring him to shoot). Evan and TRoss can obviously shoot...what's the problem (with this scenario)?
Did AG just have an off year or is it a sign that Isaac's emergence caused it? On paper they can flourish, why not on hardwood? Go...
My question is why you believe they should be small forward and power forward instead of small forward and shooting guard.
I can see advantages. It will force opposing power forwards to guard a quicker player on the perimeter. It may be easier to help off a power forward than off a wing. It will force power forwards to close out to the three-point line. It would enable switching. But I see reasons to consider placing Gordon and Isaac at the two and three (providing we get a starting power forward, of course).
If one of them plays power forward, he will encounter matchups that outmatch him in weight.
No disrespect but one of the worst ideas I've seen on here imo. We need to go smaller if anything, we are already one of the biggest front courts in the NBA and it's produced one of the worst offenses. What opposing power forwards are too big of a match up for Gordon/Isaac? Isaac would benefit much more from playing center in spurts than shooting guard/small forward.

Re: Summer Trades...never too early
People need to understand that 3% isn't same for all players.
Bamba or Vuc shooting 35% for 3 is not a same as wing who takes 6 attemps a game shootings 35% and is guarded all the time.
Bamba and Vuc never get their shots contested. I think in Bamba's nba career 1 three pointer was contested. Vuc isn't that far off.
Teams simply do not care about 7 footer shooting 3s. For good reason. They are not great shooters. They are average ones at best who get open looks by designs of defense. It's moderate risk of gambling. By most odds, especially in playoffs, those shots will get more pressure and they will start bricking them ( case and point last year Brook Lopez shot 36,5% for 3 in regular season, than in playoffs teams starte pressuring him and his percentages dropped below 30%. During World cup teams were awlays in his and Turner's face and he shot i think 3-18 for 3 over a tournament and was easly the worst USA player ).
To this date we are yet to see one ELITE shooter who is pure center. Dirk wasn't center and when you look at his 3 FGA he was never high usage 3 point shooter. You could say Durant is 7 footer shooter but he isn't center by any streach of imagination and plays SF most of his career.
That's not even close to same "shooting" as Robert Covington who shoots 35,7% for 3 on 8 attemps and but he does not get wide open looks that easy because teams actually defend him.
You can't just go and play 3 bigs that can't put ball on the floor just because in imaginary land they are 35% three point shooters. Basketball isn't just putting shots in the air, most of basketball is preparation to be in position to put those shots in the air. Main reason why most teams go small nowdays is simple fact that smaller players have better ballhandling, shooting and playmaking skills than bigs , and in same time are more mobile and therfore versitale and adjustable. Where big is always big. Even best center in today's era can't really hang out there in pick&roll defense against Harden, Curry, Lillard, Lebron or whoever.

Thank you for the response! Would playing AG and JI as swingmen together truly make the offense worse than it was? Without looking up every starting power forward in the league, I believe any power forward with more weight and strength than AG or JI would be tougher matchups than all but the most athletic shooting guards—and even those guards have their work cut out for them on defense. It would be a different story if we were going with size on the perimeter over speed, but it really looks to me like we get the best of both worlds here: long players who are just as fast as their shorter matchups. Isn’t that better than players who are faster but weaker than the guys they’re covering?

Guys, Ive been playing A LOT of 2K lately and let me tell you, the Bamba/Isaac/Gordon front court is beastly.
If we can find a way for me to mind control them during games, I'll have them looking like stars in no time.

In my opinion, yes.
First, I don't think there's any power forward too big for either Gordon/JI. Maybe one extreme outlier case is AD but he plays mostly center and JI will grow to be able to handle those types better as his body grows.
But yes I do think the offense is the reason we don't do this. We have a couple of young forwards who aren't great at getting their own shot already. The question to me is, would I rather have a smaller, quicker-footed player guarding them or a bigger, (usually) slower guy guarding them. We don't take advantage of their height much by posting them up because of our roster construction, so I doubt we'd ever expose any mismatches to our benefit.
Fultz
Gordon
Isaac
other forward
Vucevic
looks much, much worse to me. The goal (imo) should be going toward something like
Fultz
Fournier
small forward
Gordon
Isaac
but instead the much more likely thing with this front office is we'll see
Fultz
Fournier
Gordon
Isaac
Vucevic

Yes, yes it would.
You’ve been saying this for years now. This isn’t 2k.
Neither AG or Isaac can play the “2” . Also, no one is scoring in that lineup. There’s a reason why you’ve never seen that lineup or it even attempted by Clifford. It’s the same reason Clifford said he isn’t playing Bamba next to Vuc.
The issue with this team isn’t about playing bigger. It’s about lacking reliable playmaking ability on a basic level. Adding another big to a starting lineup of AG, JI, and Vuc doesn’t solve anything.

They didn't play this year together at all as far as i can find, but last year their 23 min of shared time resulted in - 31 net rating mostly because their offensive rating was offensive ( 87,8)
It's interesting how some of the worst current lineups still get a lot of PT ( Augustin, Ross , Birch - 24).
MCW lineups tend to be rock solid.

I'd be interested to see them get time together now that Bamba knows what he's doing more, Gordon has dropped his Kobe acts for the most part, and Isaac is DPOTY. I just dream of the swat fest in defense.
That's not part of my standard agenda of wanting Vuc gone, I just wanna see them play together now that they've all grown a bit more. They'd need Curry and Klay in the backcourt to make them truly competitive, but still.

Re: Summer Trades...never too early
Wrote this in another topic, but fits here.
I don't think Vucevic solely is the problem, I think Vucevic *pairing with Fournier IS the problem. It's either one or the other in my eyes. Me choosing one or the other is contingent on available trades/players and current roster construction.
I believe Orlando should try to capitalize on the Utah situation and try to pair Gobert with his BFF.
Vucevic + '21 FRP (lottery protected/maybe top 12) for Gobert + filler should be enough with all things considered.
Contrary to popular belief I do think Orlando's top priority is reserving '21 cap space/flexibility (like everyone else) so imo any Gordon trade should keep that in mind heavily. Orlando should target expiring players (for ex. Oubre, Derozan, Porter, Batum etc.)
For this example and because we have already been linked to this player, lets say Orlando trades for Derozan + (assuming he opts in). This is obviously not the prettiest choice, but he fits the bill of what Orlando needs (scoring, alpha, veteran, expiring, all-star).
^^^ this trade is very flexible and Derozan could be switched with Oubre or if Orlando's desires just a filler at that position with future incentive included I could see a world where Porter/Batum is in play.
Next, Orlando focuses on drafting a PG in the draft. As much as I believe in Fultz and his potential, I do think we should have a young hungry guard that has the ability to potentially start in the event Kelle doesn't further develop/injury replacement. You cant just simply put all your eggs in that basket with all things considered.
Target: Killian Hayes (hometown kid too)
Other targets that could be in range or able to trade up for: Cole Anthony, RJ Hmapton, Tyrese Haliburton
Orlando trades Iwundu for a SRP
Orlando lets Augustine walk in free agency and Ennis & Fournier opts in.
Resign MCW to a small 1+1 deal
Fultz/Hayes/MCW
Fournier/Ross
Derozan/Okeke/Ennis
Isaac/Aminu
Gobert/Bamba/Birch
Going into 2021 summer with more than likely the best defensive front court in the league and surely a top 3 defense, two all-stars and probably top 6 team in the east and 50+ mil coming off the books is honestly the best case scenario. This team is comprised of young talent, proven veteran talent, great coach plus very move-able filler/rookie contracts and all high character guys.

Not sure if Killian Hayes is projected to last till us but I would love that type of pick. I don’t have to insert the Hammond joke as to why we won’t pick him...

This team is comprised of young talent, proven veteran talent, great coach plus very move-able filler/rookie contracts and all high character guys.
It's on front page of real GM that Jazz have no intentions to trade Gobert or Mitchell.

We need to go smaller if anything, we are already one of the biggest front courts in the NBA and it's produced one of the worst offenses. What opposing power forwards are too big of a match up for Gordon/Isaac? Isaac would benefit much more from playing center in spurts than shooting guard/small forward.
Thank you for the response! Would playing AG and JI as swingmen together truly make the offense worse than it was?
Gordon
Isaac
but instead the much more likely thing with this front office is we'll see
Fultz
Fournier
Gordon
Isaac
Vucevic
I’m sorry for the delayed reply. I don’t agree with your conclusions, but I appreciate your input.

Which quickly turned into one of the leagues best offense when style of play changed. The ball movement over those games after the All star break was much like what some of us have brought up. Fultz's roll with the ball increase, gordon doesn't think he's kobe a balances his quick trigger with a better Bball IQ. 6.7 asst from the PF position is pretty impressive.his defensive numbers went up and so did his efficiency. That changed the outlook of the team.
Then ayyyyyye.... look at that bench. they started to actually play!!!
I'm not expecting much other than hopefully a great pick ... Aaron Nesmith
... and they might call it a day. if a trade is made... it's because it's a really good upgrade. no trades.... just to made a trade. our organization believes in the potential growth of our players and is not judging them specifically on the present fit and performance. A scoring wing in the draft with okeke is a pretty good summer.Re: Summer Trades...never too early

Re: Summer Trades...never too early
Looking back at the team, what condition are we in going into the offseason?
NEEDS
Scoring
Internal options: Vuc, Fournier, Gordon - we know what we're getting from them, for the most part, and it's not enough. Isaac still looks raw on offense for the most part (with little opportunity to show otherwise), and Fultz's limitations seem to hinge on how much range he can restore to his jump shot.
External options: Trade? who knows, really. Trade market could change at any moment. Obvious names like DeRozan are out there. The question is, what kind of addition are you looking to make here? Do you still want to entertain Fultz being the future scorer of the team? Is this a place holder? Or are we looking to add the potential future top scorer of the team? Draft wise, I can't see us expecting to land a franchise leading scorer with a mid first, but we could get lucky and someone like Neismith could become that person, you just can't expect it.
What's WeHam's likely response here? Their track record says stay the course, keep waiting for something too good to pass up comes along. The chatter in the media suggests they're aware of the need to add scoring, and Gordon's name circulated a lot. Which of these sides wins out? Continued development patience, or addition of a scoring injection via trade?
Shooting
Internal options: Fournier, Ross, DJ all reliable 3pt shooters, Vuc and Bamba are decent for their positions, Gordon, Isaac, Fultz and the rest are all pretty woeful. They're all still young enough to hope for big strides in improvement, but there's no guarantee it happens in the short term.
External options: Draft. FA.
What do WeHam do here? They've never really seemed to value shooting as a skill, or have an unrealistic expectation of a player's ability to develop into an excellent shooter. Isaac and Fultz seem to be their focus, for now at least.
Development
How are all of our players progressing? Who has further room to grow, and in what direction? Who is stagnating. Are our young guys, and biggest investments, showing signs of paying off? Isaac looking like a DPOTY certainly is, even if he doesn't develop much more on the other end - though would like to see more. Fultz is looking like he will be at least a starting calibre PG. His arm and shot is his ceiling. Bamba looks much better this year, and I'm seeing the very real potential of Gobert + 3pt shooting in him - in a few more seasons. Gordon has plateaued as a scorer, but is finding ways to use his abilities much more efficiently and usefully with increased playmaking and post work. Chuma is still a complete mystery, but it will be great to see him on the court. Vuc, Fournier, Ross, DJ, Birch all seem to be what they are at this point, and all valuable in one way or another, just none individually enough to tip the team into "we've got something serious to work with here" territory.
*Edit*
Bench / Depth
In some ways we're crowded, in others we're too thin. Our front court depth proved needed with Aminu and Isaac both going down, and Chuma already down. We even had to bring in Ennis to help. The bench has been a disappointment for most of the season, but over the past month DJ, Ross, MCW, Bamba and the others really put on a show. An unsustainable show, though.
With the current state of the starting lineup's offense, we need an offensive spark off the bench. I feel like DJ is a real favourite of WeHam & Cliff, and he'll likely be back. Ross, we know, is locked in. Those two both have the potential to be potent, but also to be big misses when they're cold. MCW is a rollercoaster every night. Bamba is slowly developing. Aminu was a complete and utter disappointment, and Ennis has been solid and reliable but nothing special. Hopefully Chuma or our draft pick can come in and add some extra firepower to DJ and Ross.

Man i know yall in love with kelle's story and how much improvement potential he has. The fact is that he's NOT a reliable starting pg. He isnt playing Even 30 min per game, we arent Even sure if he would ever be able to shoot from distance. We need a starting pg till we are sure if kelle is not worth ti stick him around. Still havent hear any tarde ideas involving a starting pg caliber guy

So put a trade out there?
I’m fine with another pg but the optimistic bunch on here think he wasn’t really healthy a year ago, now that he is healthy and has a summer to work on one specific aspect of his game maybe it could improve. If it doesn’t then I agree, probably not best to have a starting pg who shoots 25% from 3 every season.
