How about going after klay Thompson in free agency? I think his deal is up after this year and warriors might want to move on, he won't get anywhere near what he's making now, but with his shooting in a smaller role he could be a real fit here I think

I could see Cuban trying to swoop in and get him to have a Goga and Lively tandem.

Maybe worst fit in the NBA
I listen to the Locked-On Mavs podcast, and they feel like they need one more big man. They wouldn't play together.

He will likely retire after the season. He isn't very good after his injuries, and he's probably just trying to fulfill his contract.

No. They are terrible at protecting the rim even with Lively. Another big man is their top priority.

How about we flip it...Wendell Carter for Lively and Josh Green?

DAL gives up some undeveloped (mostly defensive) promise (unless you count offensive rebounds) for a ready-to-contribute solid, versatile 2-way player that can do a little bit of everything, including hitting open 3's created by Luka.

Nvm…DAL fans convinced they have Wilt Chamberlain reincarnated in Lively.

I love Lively. His game is wonderful next to Dončić. In general, Dallas is a weird mix of youth and age that really works. For example: who new that Hardaway could be an outstanding 6th man? The trade for Irving could not look better right now.

Last season Fultz was not a broken player. He didn't take a lot of 3's, but there wasn't anything weird going on. He knew his limitations and stayed within them and managed to play good basketball. I'm concerned a broken Fultz could mess us up a bit.

Agreed. He was very good, very strong but, IMO, not a good fit even then, due to his lack of outside shot - which is far from unique in the NBA, just (again) not a good fit in ORL.

A damaged Fultz is just not a good thing...his re-integration really concerns me. I don't expect them to just send him home but I don't see a graceful way to play him minimally. A trade would be best for both, IMO.

WCJ coming back is really interesting...I don't automatically slot him in, but I also can't forget that he's pretty darn good, pretty darn smart, pretty darn inexpensive, pretty darn young, and maybe can alter his game to the way we're presently working so well.

If we could have seen the future last June... (no knock on Black and Jett) but the way we look right now, with the current style of play, imagine a draft of Cason Wallace and Lively :o

Basically, the two "types" I would happily trade picks and players for today.

Klay's not that bad. He's not a good defender, and really probably overrated on that end for most of his career. He is still 6'6" and one of the best volume 3 point shooters ever. He's been awful this year and he's still making 2.8 threes a game at over 34%. Last year he made 4.4 per game at 41%, he probably will end the season north of 37%. He's going to get another contract, but probably not as good as the 2/48 he turned down.

With that said, i wouldn't want him on this team going forward. Doesn't do enough besides shoot. I'd rather continue to develop Houstan, who I think can already shoot if he's given an opportunity, and might be able to play good enough defense at some point.

I wanted Wallace at pick 6 up until i really got a chance to find out about Black's game. Cason looks great, but I'd still take AB over him right now. AB's size, defense, and passing are just too good to pass on. Now I really wanted Cason at pick 11, and thought Lively was heads and shoulders above anybody else on the board. Not sure if Cason was our pick or not, with OKC jumping us with the trade, and we would have had an even bigger log jam at guard, or center, but both look like great rotation players now, and if you can get a great rotation player at 11 you have to take that player and figure out the depth chart later....just think about how much more valuable those players trade value is right now than Jett's...who could certainly be valuable one day.

A three guard rotation of AB, Suggs, and Wallace seems like an unbreakable defensive triangle for the next decade.

I don't know how we got three days off between games. You'd think they could have smoothed our schedule out a little more. We have already had 4 back to backs nights (2-2) and two more instances in December and both of those are home/away back to backs.

Last year we were had the worst record in the league in back to backs at 1-12, we have 15 back to backs this year. And it seems like almost all of the back to backs have only one day of rest on either side of the back to back, so 3 games in 4 days, and 4 games in 6 days.

The long gaps between games are too much. I'm ready for some Magic games

Normally i would agree but i cant help but think that this long break is a Godsend for us esp seeing Suggs and JI beaten up. Not to mention what happened to Paolo and Jingles our last game.

ABs little brother was getting under Flagg's skin. I didn't know Flagg was playing at Montverde.

2-3 over our last 5. Only the second 5 game stint we've lost this season. Lost all 3 road games.

Return to Orlando Magic
