Your love or value for small guards who play Hero ball is amazing. No of the guys you love play winning ball.

What's not to like with Jett? 37/30/80 and poor defense.

Numbers should improve with consistent minutes, consistent role. Cmon basketballrob you're telling you didn't know this? I can't teach all the time.
You should try to put some ointment on that.

PHI sends: Jared McCain

*PHI is toast, but not ready to rebuild...2 extra frps and a prospect for a guy who is out for the season...They could try for a big TD deal if they believe it's not too late to save the season...or, just regroup over the summer, tank and get healthy for another immediate run. The idea is not for them to draft but, more likely, to flip those picks for a vet that can help sooner than McCain

ORL will NOT be able to draft a better fitting, exciting young player than Jared McCain...even if they tanked the rest of the season. The day before last year's draft, this would have been an absurdly high offer...but McCain has been like another Maxey. PHI might question whether the two make for a good backcourt pairing as they are very similar in strengths and weaknesses. ORL gets no benefit this year, but next year - it's on.

I would do this. McCain was my guy in the draft and if he fell to us suddenly a lot of our problems look really easy to solve. I don't think the Sixers consider it.

I don't think it's enough for him though and I think the Sixers will probably just hold him at this point. I thought maybe they would consider trading him in a win-now move, but they are in really bad shape this season.

Sixers are a team to watch down the line though. As it gets closer to needing to pay him they may have to move him or Maxey. Depending on what happens with Embiid of course...

Got it chief!! In the meantime you can work on making better arguments than referencing simple stats from a player through inconsistent minutes.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

I nuch prefer McCain to Sexman but he's not really a realistic target. His trade value is extremely positive.

Simons is the guy we should go for Portland wants to commit to Scoot and we probably won't have to send much.

I agree...apparently, UTA already has multiple frps in 25 and those are the firsts I'd be most likely to include (one or the other). Also, seems like POR might be easier to deal with. But I like Sexton's deal better and his demeanor seems more of a fit...I'd call UTA first, but have POR on hold. PHI probably not likely, I understand...but, people's concerns about "rentals" would be dead with rookie McCain.

Not that the lazy-minded homers wouldn't find something else to drag their feet and cry about :P

People refuse to add a 1st to get Sexton and you’re moving 2 1sts and Jett for McCain.

also think this is a massive overpay for a PG with a knee tear.

Not to mention other… distractions.

CJ McCollum quoting me (apparently he's a RealGM'er)

CJ Hypes Skill Set After Scoring 45
'I'll be able to shoot when I'm 40'

Go get him Weltman...throw that hero a life preserver while NOLA sinks. He'd be a budget BIG 3 addition...like it or not, he'd be the be the best player on the team on a lot of nights...but he also wouldn't get in the way of P&F. Opposite timeline situations - NOLA would be happy to avoid tax, we'd be happy to win playoff games. Classy professional, intelligent and articulate locker room leader...shoots like a MFer...I believe he'd be accepting of a lesser, but significant role on a young contending team that surrounds him with lengthy fierce defenders.

NOLA sends: CJ McCollum, Daniel Theis (expiring, min salary rotation big from Germany)
ORL sends: Cole Anthony, Moe Wagner (buyout-back on Franz' couch), Harris (possible buyout), Jett (prospect), token draft equity-srps

NOLA unloads a big contract immediately, saves cap penalties with buyouts/waives, gets a prospect and some minimal draft equity.

EDIT: also, great complementary backcourt partner for AB while providing mentoring and gradually handing more on-ball time to AB as he progresses. CJ can be on or off ball - still often at an elite level. Trade value is diminished only by age, sub-par defense, and short-term contract...all of which we can accomodate

I'd pull the trigger on this in a heartbeat

A meniscus tear is the easiest of knee injuries that have you out for an extended period of time to comeback from

However, there's 0% chance the 76ers accept this. They could be looking to rebuild soon and would rather build around Maxey & McCain as the new splash brothers. I'd throw in another 1st to see if they bite, doubtful though.

What McCain showed before he got injured was really special though, his poise and energy on & off ball was incredible.

You have some of the weirdest takes lately man. Just absolutely out there.

McCain is averaging 15.3 ppg as a 20 year old rookie in 23 games.
He's been better than anyone else on Phillys roster outside of Paul George or Maxey this season.

If AB was doing anything close to what McCain was showing prior to injury people would be singing a different tune about him.

He's out for the season, right? His archetype is in the vein of a Anfernee Simons, Jamal Murray, Tyrese Maxey, Evan Fournier, Jordan Poole, Tyler Herro, etc. Small scoring guard. How good do you think he is?
