People walking into the same trap as always about opportunity cost with these picks. That Suns swap is at its lowest value at this point. Post KD trade its value skyrockets. We can't trade a 1st until 2032... so no assets going forward. This is insanely risky and there is no way out except trading one of the big four.

And with the whole "just get unsigned rookies, they are as good in picks in the 20s", like what are we smoking today bros?

No, but that’s what we gave up for the pick to begin with. It was a pleasant surprise that the move happened at all and one I fully expected would be flipped and used in a trade…and now here we are.

Tbh I know nothing about him. Anyone ever watch him and got a scouting report? Just looking at the stats he seems legit he's at 20ppg on what seems like great efficiency and can shoot the three. Is he a good defender? Where does he fit in on our team?

Couldn't find the original quote lol. But he's a very good defensive player and excellent shooter/scorer. As the years have gone by his offensive role expanded and he was tasked at being the 1st and 2nd option for most of his run in Memphis (Depending if Ja was able to play).

The crazy thing is he was doing this on Grizzlies teams that were really good. If Ja was able to be the top 5 Superstar player he was supposed to be previously. Bane being the 2nd option would've been good enough to be a title team.

To me he's a lot like prime Klay Thompson type option. Where you can move him around being your 2nd or 3rd option on a title contending team. Its just that people don't know he's that talented because he plays in Memphis and the whole Ja saga has overshadowed what they have over there.

3 level scorer and a guy who just has developed his passing game. People don't understand this guy is an allstar caliber player who actually has a history of contributing to winning. Its a HUGE get in my opinion.

I love love love this trade. KCP and Cole were absolutely trash last season, to get a player of Bane's capabilities, is amazing. Yes, the picks are a lot, but we all said we wanted a risk and this is banking on Bane as the missing piece and the one that will help us and those picks will be 20+ anyway.

I didn't say it on here but my guy feeling was we'd make 2 trades and possibly send out both of this years picks. My thought was priority 1 was a trade to make the team better. Adding Bane and losing KCP and Cole is definitely a roster upgrade. The second trade I would imagine would be for a little financial flexibility. WCJ doesn't hurt the cap much this year but next year his extension hits and he becomes more expensive. My hope is that they trade WCJ and 25 for a young center on a cheaper long-term contract. Maybe even Wolf or something along that line.

I'm not too worried about the pg spot. It's going to be pg by committee with Suggs, Bana and AB plus we run the offense through PB and Franz anyways. Maybe a Russell Westbrook fa signing could happen?

Another thought on the apron issue. If we're in a position that we're going to be over the second apron next season we could give JI enough dnps to reduce his future salary and get under the second apron. I don't think many teams have that option built into they're books.

It’s possible a Durant deal is likely in o include win now players and Booker wants to stay and doesn’t want to tank.

A spurs trade could include Vassel, Sochan and picks.

I’ve liked Bane for a very long time. I spent a few years trying to figure out how to trade for him before he got his contract. So he wasn’t on my radar this summer because I thought they’d trade Morant or JJJ away before Bane who I consider their most stable good player. And now we have him.

16, guys we wanted were not going to fall that far.

You still have the chance to trade 25 and other guys like Isaac to get a 6th Man (assuming Suggs isn’t being shopped) and/or a better starting center.

Bane’s on a fair and long-term contract. He would’ve already been an All-Star if he played in the East. He’ll be 27 soon. Elite 3-point shooter. Elite free throw %. Great defender. His t-Rex arms are why I thought Weltman would stay away. He can pass. Defense isn’t being sacrificed.
Getting Bane likely is the rich man’s version of going after Simons.

We get off KCP’s contract. We get off Cole’s inconsistency and contract. That’s what 2 of the first round picks were for.

Memphis was already in the 2026 Phoenix pick swap, it’s just they’re now in a way better position at possibly getting a lottery pick (assuming Memphis isn’t tanking).
2028, 2029 pick swap, 2030 we should still be great, those all should be late-20s picks.

I don’t think we’re done, and I’ll be surprised if we still have the 25th pick.

The SL is pretty much set in stone until next summer imo (that’s when Wendell’s new deal kicks in) so everything from here on out is to round out the bench.

Main needs:

Veteran backup PG
Guard depth

Orlando can fill out the end of roster with the #25/SRP’s, but I think they really need to nail the backup PG slot with a stopgap starter (possibly someone like Schroeder/Brogdon).

Like the trade, we needed shooting, Playmaking and were willing to give up some defense to do so.

Well Bane really upgrades are shooting and scoring efficiency, upgrades are playmaking (compared to KCP) and doesn’t give up much defensively.

The assets could become an overpay/ or underpay depending on where the pick lands.

Interesting to see how we fill out the roster, could still maneuver to bring in another impact contributor. Via trade ( young player or #25 and 2nds) or signing (MLE).

I’m fine with giving up a bunch of maybe’s to get a guaranteed stud who’s a great fit, on his prime and locked into a non-max contract.

Guys? If we make a small move or two to fill out our depth with a solid contributor, we are in co tention to win the East as early as next year, while being in position to contend for the rest of this decade!
