Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLVIII"Preseason"Ed.)
Al Jefferson is an expiring contract so I dont see Utah just dumping him for nothing, we would have to probably give up a future 1st and a young player and I am not that high on him playing C

Watch OKC deal K-Mart's expiring, Lamb, and their pick for Jefferson. He'd fit perfectly in OKC.

I would think Perk finally has some value for OKC now that Dwight is in the west.
Not sure anyone has played him better 1 on 1.

Al Jeff has never seemed to make a team better. He can score down low, but that is it.

Perk hasnt played Dwight well in 3-4 years. Everyone keeps living on 1 series way back when.

I'd think OKC would love the lineup it gives them, especially if they don't have to give up the toronto pick. they lose a little off the bench though, maybe PJ3 shines in that role.
wonder if henny or utah would do it.

Perhaps, but they would be in play for a guy of that caliber. And they could use a low-post scorer.

yeah, and showing very little
Start him and lets tank for two years. The key is to get Andrew Wiggins in '2014. Anything else Harkless gives us is a bonus to flip him for a pick or player.
Wow..harkless is trade bait because of this particular practice. Standard overreaction.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLVIII"Preseason"Ed.)
OKC would look pretty genius if they were able to trade some kind of combination of Kevin Martin + one of their draft picks for one of Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, Zach Randolph maybe even Josh Smith. Just some guy who can rebound well and score down low. It would be even harder to defend the already scary OKC offense if they had a legit low post threat.
I've seen the word "flexibility" tossed around a lot this off season. The OKC trade is the definition of flexibility. They have an above average starter on a big expiring contract, a good young prospect, a nice mid round draft pick and a great draft pick in Toronto. All great assets that can be traded or contribute on the court for them.

When Perk moved to the west, there hasn't been a meaningful matchup. "way back when" was the last time it meant anything. Perk has been hurt a lot over the past few years though.

it doesn't matter how good harkless is now, it matters how good he is at the end of the season and how much he improves. he has the highest ceiling out of any of our players. too much negativity around here

No doubt. I don't know why people get upset with me saying he didn't show anything. That was a fact. I didn't say he was going to suck because of it. I just said he showed very little (he had trouble keeping up with Hedo defensively

Somebody take a look at those statistics and tell me exactly why we are SO different to that team, at least on paper?
Keep in mind we have Afflalo AND Harrington from that team....2 of the top 4 scorers.
Offensive ratings: #1 out of 30
Defensive ratings: #29 out of 30
(in terms of PPG)
Nobody put up more than 17 PPG, but 7 guys in double figure PPG
IMO, we are constructed very similarly to this team, very very similarly
Jameer <> Lawson (before you go saying how amazing Lawson is, just look at the stats)
Afflalo = Afflalo
Harrington = Harrington
Harkless <> Brewer
Hedo <> Gallinari (again before mouthing off, look at stats)
Baby <> Nene
Then you combine the role players and they too are relatively similar
JJ + Ish/Moore/Jones <> Andre Miller + Wilson Chandler/Rudy
Vuc + Ayon + Nicholson + McRob <> Faried + Mozgov + Birdman
Where is the STARK contrast between those two teams exactly? Will we need some time to gel, sure. Is Karl a much more seasoned coach than Vaughn? Of course. But the offense will run in a similar manner: run the break, motion offense, can't double team any one guy because 7 guys can get double digits on you in any game. Their defense sucks, ours prob will as well. Doesn't mean we are going to be the worst team in the league. A lack of superstar talent doesn't always amount to being complete trash. Many teams in the past have succeeded as being "teams". Just some food for thought.
Look at their per36 numbers. Insane. Just a collection of great role players, all playing their roles. SIXTEEN guys on that team over that year put up double digit PP36min numbers. FOUR guys put up double double per36 numbers. We have those kinds of guys on our team imo. Do I think we will be as good as Denver, no I don't. My point is that I don't get why everyone thinks we will be one of the worst teams EVER (yes, statistically some record projections put us in that category).
