Biz could have a crazy moment and opt out of his contract next season.

Like who? There was a run on PGs right before our 1st 2nd round pick. A couple went in the 1st and the one we wanted, Charlotte, traded up and took him.

You can't trade a turd sandwich for a pretty princess...

This is a very small trade that simply smooths out our roster for the youngster bigs and adds a small expiring contract to help facilitate a possible future trade if need be.

This trade really isn't worth the fuss or so many pages...

People are defending this trade because we traded Biz though and it makes no sense because we still got Mosgov in return. If we had sent out the OKC pick or these second rounders and just acquired Grant and not Mosgov obviously this trade would be completely different. But its like people forget that we took back Mozgov's contract and sent out two-second rounders..

Who tf cares?!?!? BIZ IS GONE! Bismack Biyombo is no longer an Orlando Magic!! How is this not ringing in some of you? The man sucks at basketball. He cant catch the ball, cant finish at the rim, cant dribble, turns it over 1 of 2 possession like he is still a rookie making dumb rookie mistakes like traveling and double dribble. He was brought in to play defense and he didnt even do that. Him and Vuc had the higher opponent FG% in the team. Yes he is a good guy but is an awful basketball player. Stop defending him like he was actually gonna get minutes and be a part of this rotation.

Mozgof at least can be a decent backup who yes is overpaid. Also wouldn't surprise me if we bought him out. Also got a PG out of it too. Those seconds were unpreferred and we still have our own.

CAnt belive some of you still find a way to complain about this. I swear some people just come here to b*tch and moan. :nonono:

Two lower-of's 2nds for a career backup is value, in my opinion.

If you're held at gunpoint. You can get a 3rd string or a backup in free agency without giving up a single thing. We gave Charlotte the 2nd rounders to get rid of Biz, didn't we? Grant was just free.

Unless i am missing something this is a vanilla trade that no one should celebrate or be depressee about. Its clifford getting rid of biz who he hates and getting more depth at pg. thats it.

I still think we add a piece with the mle.

Umm.. step back and take a deep breath for a second. I don't think you have ever seen me on this board defending Biz. Not sure if you even bothered to read my post but all I was saying is you cannot defend this trade by saying we got out from under Biz's contract when we took back a guy that played 31 games last year, 52 the year before, and is on the same exact contract. He is marginally better if better at all than Biz considering he is an atrocious defender. Brooklyn was able to make the same exact trade and acquire a expiring contract instead.

This is not a good deal by any stretch. We sent out 2 second rounders for a career backup and still took back Mosgovs contract.

A trade doesn’t have to be a blockbuster to be worth making.

This isn’t a big trade. This isn’t an exciting trade. This is just a trade to (very slightly) better position our roster.

Not only that but trades are coming. This roster as of today stands at/over 15 players with the addition of Isiah and Grant to the team roster and not being two-way players.

AG
Isaac
Bamba
Evan
Vuc
Mozgof
Grant
Birch
Iwundu
Frazier
DJ
Briscoe
Tross
Simmons
Purvis

Total = 15

Trade is coming because we are just not gonna let our 6mil MLE expire. Or maybe use it in a trade?

No. It sounds like DJ will begin the season higher on the depth chart than Grant. Maybe that is as the starter or maybe it is at the backup with Grant #3.

The off-season is not over.

I know he does but so does Biz. They both suck. At least Mozgov was a decent backup in CLE couple of years ago. Again I still think Birch will be our backup and Mozgof will prob get bought out. ALso, Mozgof is making 1.6mil less than Biz so theres that.

This roster is still unfinished. WEltman isnt done.

Man people overreact so hard here. I truly thought the roster was finalized and done by how much complaining was happening. I am thinking thats not the case.

The funny part is a lot of this emotion seems to hinge on IT, a guy most people would have considered to be an afterthought just 1 month ago.

Unreal.

If the PG rotation stays as it currently stands I think I might have to take a break from watching games. I'll still follow the team through the season and I'll always be a fan but I don't think I can watch this team with Augustin as our best PG.

Pretty much what ive been saying this entire thread and is the main reason I have been skeptical about this trade. Clifford doubling down again on one of our starters from last year (DJ) in that interview. If people are fine with that, so be it, but Id rather not sit through another evaluation season.

You really expect Briscoe, or Grant to start from day 1 over DJ who has starter experience and has played for Cliff?

The way the roster stands as of TODAY, obviously Dj will start. Remember that unless we make a crazy trade, whatever PG we acquire this summer is NOT going to be our PG of the future.

My gut feeling is that we will give Smart a shot for one year.

Return to Orlando Magic
