Re: 2024-2025 Regular Season Game 58: Memphis Grizzlies (36-19) at Orlando Magic (28-29) - 7pm
Just an unacceptable level of miscommunication at the end.
Memphis misses the FT. Paolo gets the rebound. Franz, Wendell and Goga all IMMEDIATELY signal for a timeout... and Paolo decides to dribble.
So once he did that, there's no timeout because you can't advance the ball.
But situational awareness just totally lacking across the board. If you DO want a timeout there, then Paolo's gotta dribble up as fast as possible into the front court and then call that timeout.

That’s a brutal loss.
Wendell was fine... both Goga and him played well. The offensive execution down the stretch was just god awful.

Rational people know this isn’t a good team and that Mosely is a lousy coach. Needs to be blown up. But Weltman is the GM, so we’re stuck.

Franz had 2 TOS in the last 2 minutes.
Also the team went without field goals in the last 4:40 minutes.
The loss was collective effort.
The truth is that this is not a good team right now.

this team builds my hope to just crush it
just when i thought we were turning a new leaf
honestly all of this would be avoided if we had a PG. theres a reason why they came back and our offense started struggling more once their defensive intensity kicked up a notch and there were less transition opportunities

BS. He’s 1 of the only 2 on this entire team that can create a good look for himself. Who the hell else you want taking those shots in crunch time? KCP? WCJ? AB?

Why do we even attempt a 3 point after the timeout? We were only down by 1. And no Time Out after the miss FT? Oh my goodness. This is easily a Win if we do the right things at the end.

Franz also had a terrible last 5 mins.
The execution and attention to detail stuff is our downfall most games. Would be nice to have a guard that can penetrate and not have to rely on Paolo and Franz every time.

That’s it.
Cole was running an effective offense for once and we just went away from it to go to something that did not work in the first half. Just brain dead basketball.

usually a coach is right next to or near a ref in that situation to call a TO....or just walk on the court like spolstra does

Shouldn’t have had Cole out there when he was being hunted on defense and had the ball taken out of his hands on offense. Or at least keep Goga in as some rim protection behind him. Shouldn’t have let Paolo keep chucking. KCP shouldn’t be on the court full stop, he’s just terrible for someone who’s meant to be a steady hand veteran presence.

Screw worrying about defense, fix the goddamn offense.
The offense is the biggest problem easily, the guard play is such a giant deficiency.

He just isn’t that guy. Great ‘ra ra’ coach but he needs experienced guys on the bench with him. This is amateur hour stuff.

That too. Turns put that was the difference. This team is fantastic at finding creative ways to give games away.

Such a terrible ending, missing free throws, not rebounding, kept allowing Cole to be hunted and switch onto Ja only for him to score every time, no challenging anything, terrible iso offense, and worse of all the no timeout.
This team just isn't good, and coaching is a huge problem. Finally having a promising future, seeing the flaws and them not being fixed by the people in charge is so demoralizing.
