I just like that he brought back Keyonte George lol

too low, $20m is more realistic
for a 6th man? That’s justifiable. Thats just close to MLE next next yrRichCollab wrote:Skybox wrote:basketballRob wrote:I'd need Simons to agree to a contract extension starting at around $14m before I'd trade for him.

20 million for a bench player?

pepe1991 wrote:Will Magic even use MLE tho?
That's $14M a year for 3 years.
2025-25 already in books $175M , without 2 first round picks. ( cumulative + $6,5).
= $ 195M
The league said the salary cap is “projected to be” $154.6M and the luxury tax is “projected to be” $187.9M. In addition, the “first apron projects to be” $195.9M and the second apron $207.8M
So you are already in luxury tax, at first aprone. Before Banchero's contract.
Going into 2026-27, with MLE Magic salary would look something like this:
$46M Banchero
$41M Franz
$32,4M Suggs
$21M KCP
$ 14M MLE
$18M Carter
$14,5M Isaac
$17,5M for Black & Jett (expiring, RFA)- team options for 4th year, probably will be picked
$7M Goga
x2 2025 rookies + 2026 rookie = 10M
= $220M roster
That is *probably* second apron team, 100% knees deep in luxury tax. After that your whole flexibility will be ability to resign own players.
If Banchero/ Franz turn into all nba players, salary situation gets that much worst.

Klay/Hardy/#11
for
KCP/#16/#25
*My reaction is that if Maluach was there at #11, DONE!
If not, DAL can probably spare Gafford, with Lively and AD in-house, so...
ORL sends: KCP, Jett, 16 & 25
DAL sends: Klay, Gafford, #11
or...
ORL sends: KCP, Goga, #16, #46
DAL sends:Klay, Gafford, Hardy, #11
...I honestly like the OP (with Maluach) the best. I don't care that much about Klay, but he can still certainly shoot and he's considerably less per year than KCP, for the same amount of years. I don't think we really need KCP with AB & Suggs...I still think a PG would need to be obtained, but this trade would be a big parallel step in the right direction.

Woah, hadn’t even considered that. Very interesting.
*edit: I wonder if some kind of Dame/Ja multi-team trade could happen? Bucks are gonna want another star guard back in some form because they won’t have picks to rebuild until 2030

I'll pass. You could just give $3m to Gary Trent JrSkybox wrote:basketballRob wrote:I'd need Simons to agree to a contract extension starting at around $14m before I'd trade for him.

Orlando trades:
Cole Anthony, Anthony Black, Jett Howard, 2025 ORL frp, 2025 DEN frp.
Utah trades:
Walker Kessler, Colin Sexton, Keyonte George, 2025 2nd (mocked #43 via Dallas)
Why for Utah? They have a million bigs and no guards or wings. This shores up their back court should they land Coop. AB is a big piece they can build around. Ainge gets his multiple picks so he feels like he won.
Orlando lands their rim protector, quality rebounder, and screen setter. They get their back court draw to pair with Suggs and a better fitting prospect in George for second unit scoring. People won’t like adding AB, but Utah isn’t giving away value to Orlando just because.
Trade Carter for a backup point guard and expirings somewhere.
Trade 2:
Orlando trades:
Wendell Carter, Cole Anthony, 2025 ORL frp , 2025 DEN frp, 2026 ORL frp.
Portland trades:
A Simons, Rayan Rupert
Orlando finally lands elite back court creation. They get a decent wing prospect from a team with a crowded guard rotation.
Portland gets 3 picks. They can focus on building their future back court. Carter makes some of their bigs more expendable for other moves without sacrificing a ton of cap.
The bottom line is that Orlando isn’t going to land everything they need in this draft. Use the picks to address the issues with the starting lineup, and not to fortify the bench. Get Paolo and Franz the help they need sooner than later.

Trade #2 is a significant overpay. Expiring and 16 is good enough for Simon’s.

I don't think our front office will give up that much assets for him. I like McNeeley with our 16th pick and Walter Clayton Jr. with the 25th pick. I don't think they trade our picks. Walter Clayton is from the area, too.JRoy wrote:basketballRob wrote:Some posters here are infatuated with Simons because he lives in the Orlando area.JRoy wrote:

Sure.
Simons is one of several guys that could help with ORL woeful shooting and not cost the world.
