But now that that is done, IMO if they need to clear the log jam, then either trade one of MP,JJ, Richardson

OR

Trade Gortat+Bass for a similar SINGULAR player that has the capability to play the Center AND Power Forward.

If Okur was healthy, he could be something similar to this type of player, just a little older than i would like.

Think of the games in which the defenders committed themselves to rushing hard against our perimeter shooters regardless if they drove into the paint after a pump. It shut us down and we went through some terrible shooting slumps and very little offensive rebounding.

Call me old-fashioned but I like the traditional lineups, 2 big men inside bumping/grinding for position and rebounding. The Lakers and Celtics obviously believe in those lineups and they have how many combined championships again?

Shut down so easily that you can win 59 games a season and have the 2nd best record in the league?

I think what you meant to say is that there are only a couple of teams who can shut the stretch 4 down. That is still pretty far from "easily shut down."

Wow, if we trade Bass for any of those players mentioned in that "rumor," Otis wasn't nearly as smart as I have given him credit for.

There is just no way we're going to give Bass up for this little. No way. We'd be sooo stupid to do so.

Damn, just move Lewis to the 3 already. You'd think Lewis never was an allstar SF or something...

I meant a player more of the mold of Bass that can play both spots. With Shard and Anderson there is absolutely ZERO need for yet ANOTHER stretch.

How would you guys feel about a Gortat+Bass for Josh Smith type of deal?

Not even sure I would like it but I am just throwing it out there for the sake of conversation...sorry if it has been mentioned in PG's 1-3, didn't go through them.

I disagree with the assertion that we lost primarily because other teams were bigger and tougher than us. IMO, we lost to the Lakers because they had Kobe, and we lost to the C's because Dwight couldn't force them to double him and VC never showed up.

The Celtics, Nuggets, and Jazz have all run traditional lineups in the last couple of years while losing to a less-physical Lakers team (Bynum played less than 25mpg last post season and less than 18 mpg the previous post season). Similarly, there was a lot of talk about how the Bobcats had a good chance to upset us because they were so much more physical than we were, yet that didn't happen even with Dwight in foul trouble the whole series.

My point is that the bigger-tougher card tends to get overplayed, especially since we have the strongest player in the league dominating the paint.

Smith would still be disadvantaged against the bigger teams we play against.

I guess I should have said defensively sound bigger-tougher teams. There are a few terrible teams that are bigger than us that of course would have no chance against us (like Memphis or Minny). But it is no coincidence that 3 straight playoff series have been lost to teams that had the size and toughness to disrupt our rhythm and basically take Dwight out of the game. Detroit, LA and Boston pretty much spanked us. They weren't even close series. Our gameplan was useless against those teams.

Yeah I don't see us trading Bass by himself... If anything I'm sure that there will be at least another backup involved...

However, they are only offering Dahntay Jones or Solomon Jones in return, neither of which is motivating the Orlando higher-ups to move Bass.

I'm not a big Bass guy, but even I wouldn't do that.

Frankly, the Pacers just don't really seem like a good trade partner.

Why would we go for him having Ryan Anderson? It would be a too expensive duplication of talent.

Regarding Bass, I really want to see this group go all the way, as I've said when some posters wanted other players traded, only if it's a very special deal....

Why would we trade our 3rd best big guy for some small scrubs that we don't need? Especially when we lack sizes.. you know, the reason we flamed out the last 2 playoffs.
