I doubt it's either of these things.

If he wants to stay, one of the concerns he has voiced in the past was a lack of input into personnel decisions. They could literally be going through a list of the players he'd like to see added.

It's also unlikely we keep him to the trade deadline if he requests a trade. Why put up with the media blitz if you know you have to do a deal? If his bottom line is 'trade me' then I think Otis does it as quickly as possible, get the best deal he can, and deals with the fallout now to try and put it behind you as soon as you can.

Then I guess Otis freshens up his resume and starts thinking about where he wants to go next.

I wonder if Dwight will mention anything about Stan. Whether he wants a coaching change or not. I know it's a bit out there, but I think I remember hearing stuff about Dwight not liking Stan or listening to Stan anymore (tuned out).

Not that I want Stan to go. I like Stan and I hope he stays for a long time, but it's just something that I remembered.

I can picture the meeting now.

Dwight sits in his chair, arms folded, face passive, staring straight at Otis. Otis looks stressed. His tie is undone, his top button opened. The sleeves are rolled up and he is perspiring heavily, beads of sweat on his forehead and expanding damp shadows beneath his arms and on his back.

Otis leans forward. "Dwight, you're telling me you will definitely sign an extension if we get this done?"

Dwight's agent leans in and whispers something in Howard's ear. Dwight looks back at Otis, and nods almost imperceptibly, his expression never changing.

Otis leans back, bringing his arms up and scratching his head franticly with both hands. "I just, I don't know if we can do that. That's a huge deal, and I just can't see them going for it."

Dwight and his agent exchange a knowing glance that Otis cannot fail to notice.

"OK! OK! We'll get it done. Dwight, before the regular season tips off, your likeness will replace Br'er Bear on Splash Mountain."
