validity wrote:well this was always going to be a tough decision for management to make based on their observations of dwight. there was no way dwight was going to commit one way or another based on monta ellis.

i would also add that expecting dwight to give up his UFA status at this point is unrealistic. it doesn't matter if you think dwight wants to go or stay. it's just unrealistic unless we were to trade for a true star.

ellis would of been great but he chose a 13 win NJ team. How can he still say its about winning

Yup, this hit me last night at the game. I really don't want to lose JJ or Ryan or even Q to be honest. I've also said this a dozen times.....why everyone rips on Q's contract so much is absolutely beyond me. He can hit some big 3s, plays hard, cheers even harder, a good enough defender, and never ever backs down from anybody. Old-school NBA guy. Love him. People act like we are paying him like $6mil/yr or something... The dude only makes like double what Daniel Friggin Orton makes!

Would be nice if we could make some smaller moves to improve our current team .. Like Beasley
Bill Ingram ‏ @TheRocketGuy
Source close to the Timberwolves says Michael Beasley is a VERY hot topic . . .lots of interest from a number of teams, incl Magic.

Something happens in this thread because DjRajX didn't start the thread. He's been our jinx the whole time.

Remember when all that referee/fouls situation
happened in 2010 and the MVP race who
was it to stick up for Howard? Van Gundy

Just a question in 2010 playoffs if we beat Celtics
do that Magic team beat the Lakers?
I'm in Pluto im at Mars at the SAME DAMN TIME

Duncan almost left San Antonio. Had he left for us, would that make him as deplorable as we're making Dwight out to be? No, because he left for us. Grant Hill did leave Detroit. He's not a horrible guy. Dwight has not left yet. He's doing the same thing that Kobe did. Years later, Kobe is now one of the greatest Lakers ever.

I'm not saying Dwight isn't leaving. I'm just saying crap like this can wait for when he actually does leave.

Yes, I think we do. That team was almost unstoppable. People tend to forget that. Swept first 2 rounds of playoffs. Set records for blowout victories in the Hawks series (same Hawks team that beat us the next year). I think after the Allstar break, plus the first two round of those playoffs, we went like 41-5 or something insane if I remember right? Celtics just had our number, beat us in a couple very close games early in the series.

IF we chose to "roll the damn dice" with dwight then beasley would be nice to have. we are better with jj starting and beasley could take a lot of turks minutes. We go through too many stretches where we can't score or even get an open look and beasley would help with that. Not to mention he would be getting coached by the best coach in the nba.

Dwight/Hedo/BBD for MWP/Bynum/Fisher

then

JRich/Orton/Harper/2nd for Beasley/Darko

Jameer/Fisher
JJ/Von
Beasley/MWP/Clark
Anderson/Beasley/Clark
Bynum/Darko

thats a top 4 team in the East if Bynum can stay healthy. I do think he will be a 25/12 type player with more offensive touches and his 70+ free throw %

Whether Dwight leaves or not, Stan deserves to be the coach of this team. We might lose a franchise player, let's not let a franchise coach go as well.

I agree, but I'm also a fan of Stan since day one. I think he's our only chance to stay competitive if and when dwight is gone.

How many other teams did he visit? He was extremely close to signing with us when we were trying to build our "big 3" right? Were the spurs even thinking about trading him knowing he could choose to leave? Trading away talent like Dwight just doesn't seem like an option. It took us 5 years after shaq left to attract big free agents, will trading Dwight and getting crap in return from new jersey help us that much? I'd rather "roll the dice" and try and win a championship this year. But I like to gamble...

Minnesota wouldn't bite on that, you'd have to add at least a second round pick and maybe filler like Orton/Harper, and I don't think they'd want anything to do with Duhon (for good reason)
