I don't hate Bynum as much as some people, but I'd much rather wait until the lottery to see if the Nets get the 1st pick. If so, I'd sit Dwight down and have a long conversation with him regarding the future of the team. If he won't buy in and all signs point to him leaving, I'd ship him off to NJ for that first pick and take Davis.

I would love to keep Dwight. This trade was just in response to the circumstance of us HAVING to trade Dwight. I didn't post this trade because I thought it would be an upgrade to our current team, I posted it in the case of us trading Dwight.

To Eyriq: I'm sorry but thinking Anderson is better than Lowry is laughable to me. Lowry is a great two-way player that can get to the line, shoot the 3 (and his shot is greatly improved, improvement and expansion of a player's offensive game is always a great sign), great rebounding PG, good distributor, and is a legitimate triple double threat. Ryan Anderson is a good shooter, solid rebounder, that took advantage of having Dwight Howard on his team.

In fact, I am so confident in Kyle Lowry being a better player (and having more potential) than Ryan Anderson, I am willing to bet my account that Lowry will be an all-star before Ryan Anderson. I would love for you to take me up on this bet, in favor of Ryan Anderson however.

Anderson will never be an all-star unless its a short year like this past one or all of the East bigs magically disappear. Realistically, he'll be the only one disappearing as showcased in the Pacers series. Then again, Lowry is in that same circumstance. Moving on to the Dwight aspect, if you believe thats the best value we can get for him then give me a noose and a stool. To even begin negotiations, I want at least a guaranteed top-3 pick , which is not something I see Houston being able to offer us. We would need to select our guy that we feel is the best fit to lead the rebuild. Back to the AD bandwagon, the Nets board seems completely ok with giving us Lopez AND the first pick if the lottery prevails. I think that would be a realistic proposition because I believe they'd be desperate enough to do it if you flash D12 in their face.

eyriq wrote:Personally I'd rather wait a year and 'roll the dice' on Dwight re-signing than trade him for anything other than as close a win trade as possible. Lowry|Bynum|FA'13 is an intriguing core, especially if we manage to use the MLE on Fran, keep JJ, and draft well, but lets be honest here, do we really think Bynum is ever going to be the best player on a champion? Here is the list as I see it:

Kareem, Bird, Moses, Magic, Isiah, Jordan, Hakeem, Duncan, Shaq, Billups, Wade, Garnett, Kobe, and Dirk.

Bynum got that in him? Not to mention the names of secondary core pieces, which is also an exclusive club.

Bottom line is our best bet is with Howard. We need to sell our soul to get Nash and then try our darndest to trade for Ellis|Gay|Granger|Smoove|Iggy, or free up cap space by trading term deals for expiring contracts.

The above trade is nice as we'd be fortunate to tank and end up with two quality players like Bynum|Lowry in the lottery, but again we'd need to forfeit our chances at a sure thing in Dwight. I'd rather roll the dice with Dwight and if we come up snake eyes tank for a few years accumulating top picks, with a front office that actually knows how to draft. We could come out of it as the next OKC if we play our cards right.

I just can't take another year of "rolling the dice" to be honest. This was the least favorite year I've had as a sports fan in recent memory. Really though I'm just going on the supposed rumors that our front office doesn't want to either. Extension or trade pretty much. I wouldn't count on them waiting this out again.

On Bynum being built around, nobodies really sure yet. He's never been away from Kobe and Gasol. And those LA weirdos have been saying for years now that he's almost as good as Dwight with the potential to be better. If that's even remotely true then I'll be cool with this. Howard's more of a sure thing on the court no doubt, but as far as resigning with us he couldn't be less of a sure thing.

Were not going to trade Howard and get better, but this is the closest thing we could trade for to be where we were at. Crying that Bynum and Lowry won't win us anything is just dumb. Of course not right away. Where we were going anyway? We get worse every damn year. We have cap space in 2013 like everyone knows. One year of being first round fodder and meshing together then we have a chance to be better than we are now. Is that really that bad? Would you rather be the Wizards or something?

Boo boo bee boo i have to wait a year. Stop being so stubborn. IF Dwight doesn't sign that extension I'm jumping on this trade's bandwagon HARD.

you're on the money..

Lowry/Duhon ( )
JJ/Liggins
J-Rich/Hedo/Rookie
BBD/Clark
Bynum/FA

looks like a 7/8th seed to me. Hell, J-Rich playing next to Lowry could potentially drive his trade value up too IMO

then by 2013, shift some contracts around and we could end up with a core of Lowry/Iggy (or any other 2013 FA)/Bynum and still have room to make solid FA pickups and get a few roleplayers

Definition of rebuild on the fly IMO

Any trade that brings in Bynum is fine by me. Best offensive center in the league, great rebounder and quality paint defender.

Agreed.. Bynum is definitely a guy you can build around. So is Lowry.

I think the Magic will get hosed on any trade they make. Dwight has given the Magic very limited latitude on who he will go to. Frankly, the guy has pretty much destroyed this franchise for the near future. And I, for one, will not be sad to see him go. Because I do not think it's a good idea to have anyone on your team who does not want to be there...and has as their primary concern being in a big market for endorsement and advertising possibilities rather than getting a NBA title. It would be great to have a player with Duncan's character and professionalism. San Antonio knows how to find those kind of players. Popovich is a great coach but he is not always an easy coach to play for. However, Duncan and the other players can put that aside because the goal is an NBA Championship ring. They do not let their over inflated ego's get in the way. It's to bad Dwight was not capable of doing that. And he still is not capable of that. He will wreck this franchise in order to get what he wants. He is a character who possesses no character. And a man with character, Stan Van Gundy, was jettisoned to placate a lying malcontent.

Bynum has one year left on his contract. All we'd be doing is going through this again. Don't trade Dwight. This year was only bad if you ate up every word ESPiN said. Otherwise it was fine until Dwight got hurt and Hedo came back.

Bynum was held to 10 pts, 4 rebs in a close out game when he should have been laying it all on the line

Fair trade, like it.

Of course since Ryan is included it's DOA for Eyriq, and since we're not ripping someone off everyone else rejects it too.

Zmill wrote:In the unfortunate event that we are forced to trade Dwight: What do you guys think of this trade (trade machine is kind of hard to use when you do S&T's, TPE's, etc.):

LAL sends:
Gasol
Bynum

LAL receives:
Ryan Anderson (S&T)
Dwight Howard
HOU pick

HOU sends:
Lowry
Pick (to LA for TPE)
Future Pick

HOU receives:
Gasol
Lamar Odom TPE

ORL sends:
Dwight Howard
Ryan Anderson (S&T)

ORL recieves:
Lowry
Bynum
Future Houston Pick

Some filler contracts may have to be thrown in.

Houston may have to give up another piece to LAL or ORL, but it's a fair trade for all parties involved IMO.

A package of Lowry/Bynum isn't the deepest package, but they are the 2 best players on the trade market ATM, IMO. IJS. TBH. LOL.

With us getting back Lowry and Bynum we'd have room for a big 2013 FA. (not including resigning Bynum w/ his bird rights) And if we rehire Otis Smith as GM we could use his creative financing . JK, but seriously we'd be in a nice cap situation with a new GM/Coach.

If anyone else has some input about a package similar to the one posted above (Involving Lowry/Bynum) feel free to post it.

I dont mean to be a pissy blanket, especially after this trade has made 4 pages buttttt........ I doubt there's any realistic chance of this trade actually happening from the Rockets end for a number of reasons.
1. The Nets aready own the Rockets future 1st.

2. When Houston was interested in Gasol last year Lowry wasn't EVER part of that deal. Since then if anything Lowry's value has risen while Gasol's went the opposite way. Is that why this trade has the Rockets adding 2 1st's plus "HOU may have to give up another piece to LAL or ORL" ? :-? That makes perfect nonsense. And here's a little inside secret that only fans of the Rockets know (and has mentioned in every Gasol to HOU trade), the Rockets wanted the Gasol in houston to team him with Chuck Hayes and Nene. None would happen without the other so it didn't. This is just way too much for Gasol. Period.

3. Doubt the Rockets would help felicitate a Howard trade with them not landing Howard.....and to a western conference team.

4. The Rockets have offered Asik a contract and they already have 6-7 PF's. Literally.

Edit: Didnt see the OP date. Was more likely when trade was 1st posted but value was still way off for the Rockets.

I think the right coach can help Bynum with his habit of taking plays off.

And by "the right coach," I mean anyone but Mike Brown.
