exactly what i was thinking.....Dwight says ok i'll play to start the year as long as you'll trade me to Brooklyn at the deadline......i just see no way that this ends up going well for us.....Now it looks like the Houston door might be closing.......We can't make any moves with the pieces we have to upgrade.......I just don't know....just....don't know....

He's not resigning until next summer. You want to go all year on a verbal commit with him? That may be the question.

Yep, and I think I'd feel more comfortable with that, as a fan, if there were players added that I believe would make us contend or compete in the Conference Finals over the long haul. There has to be something tangible there, before the season starts, to lead us to believe he'll stay.
Otherwise, this is a disaster in the making.

Same here. That's why I'm slightly concerned that we have basically added Ayon and done little else to help us long-term. I think a deal with our MLE could be something that would be the start of something. Obviously we can't go throwing out contracts, we have no cap space, but we do have full MLE and probably need to shore up the PG and SF rotation.
I think we need to make a move for a legit 2nd string PG and move Duhon to 3rd string. Not sure bringing Wayns or Ish will accomplish Duhon being 3rd string, even if they are better than him.
I'd like to see Liggins, Waayns or Flynn, and AK47 or Delfino.
Nelson/Flynn/Duhon
J-Rich/JJ/Liggins
AK-47/Hedo/Harper
Davis/Nicholson/EC3
Howard/Ayon

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLII Off-Season Edition
Dwight is not going to ink that paper this season so it doesn't make sense to me to try to make moves to please him when he's going to be gone next season anyway.....Unless he really will resign with us simply because we can give him the most money......People will say that we have to show Dwight that we want him here by making moves but the time frame doesn't fit.....we need more than 1 off-season to try and put together a team but if Dwight doesn't sign that extension we only have this off-season.....I don't like this situation at all man.......

The idea isn't just to acquire Dwight, it's to have enough assets/flexibility to build a contender too; otherwise we're just recreating another miserable situation for Dwight. Morey made a good decision in being firm in his offer...Didn't work out and now we can shift gears towards rebuilding.
Wrong board.

We are probably going to suck again, guys... If the roster does not change at all. Even is Dwight played for the Magic for like 3 months. He will become soft to make the Magic trade him to BK. The best deal for the Orlando Magic organization + fans was to trade him.
Some moves:

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLII Off-Season Edition
Does anybody have a link to that David Aldridge article where he says that Houston was willing to give up a lot for Dwight?
For whatever reason, I'm having a hard time finding it online.
Thanks in advance!

The only one that the other team could accept is the Pistons one, the other ones are awful for the other team. DeRozen for Jrich? Monta for JJ+Q? Really?

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLII Off-Season Edition
I don't know about anyone else but I cant wait till the end of October so we can get back to actual Magic basketball..
I don't care if Howard starts the season in Orlando or finishes here at this point. As long as he does NOT end up in BRK at the trade deadline. Henny needs to make that clear to him now. Skip Bayless may have a point. Hold on to Howard and he will eventually sign and stay.
As far as the Ellis talk from the last thread...Ellis is NOT the answer. It is a CP3 AND Iggy type player or bust. We will always have the potential to get to the ECF every year with Howard but thats it.

ESPN was speculating that the Rockets would give up everything they had and take back every bad contract. Here is the link: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8162534/houston-rockets-reconstruct-trade-proposal-orlando-magic-center-dwight-howard
Aldridge later reported that the actual offer was much less than that: http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2012/07/13/dwight-update-not-close-to-a-trade-with-rockets/

Who are we kidding...? This team isn't getting better... It currently has no direction... and we're all hoping for something to happen to give us hope that the team knows what it's doing, but is something really gonna happen for the good? Probably not. We're fools for caring, I'll say that.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLII Off-Season Edition
Im bored
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7ae87c4
why?
Lakers get what they want+ decent replacement for Gasol
MEMPHIS
while ago it was reported mephis gm would love to unite Gasol brothers XD(not sure if true )
+ this trade saves them tons of money...
Orl?
may need more than that ....maybe add a pick or young player or sth
Wroten?
this would give us
nice lineup
of
Nelson
J-Rich
Gay
Davis
Bynum
not convinced this team could get past 2nd round of playoffs...
but still would be fun to watch XD
yeh Im bored...
