I think more bigs should be trying underhand FTs, so I'm kinda happy he's adopted that technique.

I selected Poetl. We'd be very lucky to get him this late. Taurean Prince and Furkan Korkmaz are a close 2nd and 3rd for me. I want no part of Skal or Chriss. They have bust written all over them.

I love how Laimbeer does these each year.

I believe they should go BPA but given the composition of this roster, the feeling it's probably Orlando's final year in the lottery and the depth of bigs that The Magic probably go big with this pick.

At the moment, I'm undecided.

That's kind of my beef with Poetl too. May not be as bad as Vucevic on defense, but everything else is pretty similar. Doesn't seem like an anchor on defense also.

Jakob Poeltl in a close one. Thanks for playing and good luck in the draft.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Slightly. I'm not enamored by any of the guys in the range we're drafting in. I think Marquese Chriss has the highest upside and I'd take him if he was available. I think Labissiere had an awful freshman year but that was partially due to Kentucky not really playing to his strengths; I think they really tried to fit him into a Karl Towns/Nerlens Noel role that just didn't work. He's tall, can shoot 3's, and block shots. In today's NBA, you can work with that. Myles Turner was a much better defender for Texas, but he kind of showed that you can be successful with those 3 qualities, so I wouldn't be mad at drafting any of Labissiere, Chriss, or even Maker. IMHO, there isn't much separating Skal and Thon and I'd roll with Thon because I think he'd have better upside long term.

I also wouldn't be upset if we picked Poetl also. Again, I don't have strong feelings about these guys one way or another. I think all of them will be projects and will likely spend some time in the D-League. Poetl has good feel offensively and it seems like he can play defense in space better than Vucevic. We need frontcourt help and a legit back up center and the dude is huge at 7'1" so I don't see a problem there either. He'd certainly fill a need.

Watched some games of ellenson, his skillset is very interesting,6f11 with a wingspan of 7f2 and a standing reach of 9.
He also runs the floor, very good rebounding instincts, his lenght helps him to block shots(he had a game with 6 blocks,4-5 games with 4 blocks and then some games with 0 blocks,2 or 3 blocks).I think Coach Vogel can teach him to play good defense.

The more i see of ellenson the more i like his game.
In my opinion he and ag would be a good duo.

I realize that I'll get flamed for this, but I think Prince is worth the 11th pick. However, we could just trade back to the 15-17 range to draft him because I think that is his range at the moment. Same goes for Korkmaz.

This echoes my thoughts on the big men in this draft to a tee. Onuaku is severely underrated while Chriss and Skal are massively overrated. Deyonta Davis and Poetl are the only bigs that I'd draft over someone like Onuaku.

He's a poor defensive rebounder and he doesn't seem like most instinctual player around. With that said, He's 20 years old and has a terrific set of physical tools. He was highly productive and efficient for a 20 year old big on offense. He can finish, score on mismatches in the post and draw contact. If he can become smarter on defense he could become an excellent defender with his lateral quickness and rim protection. He also has the tools to be a good defensive rebounder, but does he have mental make up to improve these weaknesses?
