Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread Part 2
I think Chicago will take Haliburton. So if we somehow move up to 6-8 we'll probably take Hayes, Lewis, or Okoro.

That's why i compare him to Jameer. He was athletic early in his career too.RookieStar wrote:Regarding cole... I probably am wrong on this but all i see of him is a no-conscience shoot first, shoot later and shoot some more SG in a PG body...

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread Part 2
trading up for Okoro would be utterly baffling to me. Good looking kid, but why for Orlando? Move one guy because his lack of outside shooting and shot creation (AG) won't mesh with Isaac and replace him with a smaller version? I'd get behind it but I must be missing something if that's the plan. I'm liking Okeke in that role.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread Part 2
You’ve got to think if we move up to 8 or above it’s because they think Hayes or Haliburton is the guy.
To me Vassell’s upside isn’t worth AG and 15 (assuming thats the trade) and outside the above 2 and the top 3 I can’t see enough talent difference to what will be available at 15 to warrant trading up.
As someone mentioned in another thread, moving AG to move up in the draft might also be part of a longer term plan to shed some salary for next summer whilst netting another long term piece, but hopefully we don’t make a mediocre trade just to achieve that.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread Part 2
I agree with a lot of the sentiment here.
If the Magic do end up trading up -- it's for one of Ball, Edwards, Hayes or Haliburton. Someone they believe has all-star potential as a guard.
With Ball/Edwards both seemingly locked into the top 3, it seems like they'd be targeting Hayes or Haliburton.

Kira Lewis is making a late charge at the top 8 also.Knightro wrote:I agree with a lot of the sentiment here.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread Part 2
Even if they're just moving up a few spots, I'd be interested to get at least an interesting prospect back with the pick (assuming other team can't absorb AG's deal offering freed cap...IMO, any pick from 7 or 8 back, I think is an overpay if it's just the pick. I'd like AG + 15 for Cam Johnson and 10. Or, AG + 15 for 11 and Keldon Johnson or Lonnie Walker...some of these are optimistic but we could also add 2rp or similar value...my point is, our FO willingness to package AG and 15 doesn't have to mean jumping to top of draft.

If Orlando trades up only to take Lewis Jr, I'd be pretty p**sed off.

I don't see the love/ desire for Hays or Haliburton. Both are fine prospects but neither jump out to me. I want to see what you guys see, but just not excited about them.

He played on a team where no other player on the team is going to be drafted to the NBA. dude literally had no choice but to shoot first
What i see is a guy who was the #1 player in all of HS for YEARS, won MVP of EVERY all-star\camp (Nike EYBL, Nike Hoop SUmmit, McDonalds all american game, Jordan camp), hes also the son of an NBA vet who has been groomed for this his whole life, and is a PROVEN bucket. Thats the type of chance you have to take when youre a .500 team every year with no proven stars, no proven scorer and no path to getting out of the 1st round. The nuggets have become a top 5 team by doing that in recent years
Also, hes the exact same size as CJ McCullum (6'3 190) and just barely smaller than jamal murray when he was draft (6'4 205)

Im with you on Haliburton. Hes Malcolm Brogdon. Which is fine, i wouldnt mind having that on the team, but im not selling the farm for that. If haliburton is there at 15 (he wont be), then id be ok with that depending on who else is there, but im not trading up for him

On one hand, I couldn't imagine a worse fit. But OTOH that could be why it isn't all that utterly baffling lol.

Brogdon is really good and would be the best guard on the Magic by a mile. If Haliburton is going to be that good, he's worth trading up for IMO.

A 6ft 3 almost 200lb Jameer Nelson with a 40+ inch vertical sounds like a potential multiple time all star to me ?
I’d love to get that with the #15th pick, especially considering we have a shooting guard size ball handler who has a knack for creating easy scoring opportunities for his teammates in Fultz.

Agreed.... if he is available at 15... he definitely should be in consideration... shoot ... he probably should be in consideration as top 5 and injuries and team situation might have shot him in the foot... while giving lower teams to grab him. He might even still go high ... if he's balled out in workouts and interviews. That night might have a lot of surprises. Hope it's exciting for us

Bust to me is a guy who gets blocked by Trae Young when he has a 7'10" wing span.
