We have none of those options currently available to us. Hence, zero appeal to Giannis.

I agree! When we added Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill in 2000, it was no accident!

Also I find it interesting that we haven't extended Fultz and Jonathan Isaac yet!

Isaac has not been extended because Isaac is always hurt, Fultz has not been extended because it is too early to extend Fultz

We might. But we have to be good this upcoming season. An 1 and done in the playoff is not going to get it done.

Agreed! If we stay healthy and if Mo Bamba can play up to his potential, we can surprise a lot of teams!

It looks like Giannis is not going to sign the Super Max Extension with MIL. So he should be a Free Agent next summer.

I really do wish we have a shot at him. But we have to accomplish two things:

1. 2020/21 season? We are good in the Eastern Conference and deep in the playoff
2. We have enough Cap Space
3. We have a group of young players showing promises for the future.

I really do wish we are on the train. But the chance is slim*

Not only show promise, but actually go somewhere deep in the playoffs.

Otherwise, it should be a clear cap space. So we can sign other players along with a chance for Giannis.

No way he comes here which is a worse situation that the Bucks.

Can't see any top player wanting to come here. We're cheap. Hopefully we don't become the Donald Sterling Clippers.

We're not cheap! If anything we overspend for talent to come to Orlando like Rashard Lewis and Jeff Green! 8-)

This is objectively false. The Magic has had a top-10 payroll for a long time. And ownership has never hampered a GM/PBO from off-season moves.

Payroll positions by HoopsHype:
2020/21: 7th
2019/20: 10th
2018/19: 22nd
2017/18: 25th
2016/17: 8th
2015/16: 29th
2014/15: 25th
2013/14: 26th
2012/13: 15th
2011/12: 2nd
2010/11: 2nd
2009/10: 6th
2008/09: 15th
2007/08: 27th (Ra$hard Lewi$ made more than double any other Magician this year)
2006/07: 22nd
2005/06: 5th

What I take from this list is that Orlando has a very variable salary line. For one of the smallest small-market teams in the NBA, to be spending mid-tier is evidence for me that the team does invest in players' contracts.
But I did expect the numbers to be higher; it felt higher.

Yeah.. say what you want about our team, but we have never been known to be cheap in paying for players.

Also, Giannis signed the extension, time to lock this thread up? Or are we hoping he will get disgruntled and force a trade to us? (lol)

I wouldn't say never...

I'd interpret this more as support for the guys in the front office as opposed to the players though.

Shaq said it was the combination of the allure of LA, the OS poll, and that the Magic didn't offer him the money soon enough.

Eeeerrr isnt that how contract negotiations go? Magic offer hin 10 dollara he feels its too low so he counters with 20bucks and so on until they settler for anywhere from 12 to 16 dollars? Unless he means that the Magic said to him 10dollars take it or leave it?

The problem was that he was a free agent and LA offered him a lot more money. If it isn't exclusive, then it is bidding, not negotiations.

So i guesss he blamed the team for not offering a lot more on the first try?

The Magic thought they were bidding against themselves. Back then the rules permitted them to pay Shaq as much as they wanted with no penalty. The lakers cleared a bunch of cap space and beat the Magic’s offer.
The magic got a second chance and lowballed him again. The Lakers then offered him even more money, by clearing more cap.
