I'm surprised he's so low. This is destined for Suggs though, that's our clutch gene dudetooler wrote:Ladies and gentlemen, we've done it. We've found something Franz is bad at. (I'm kidding, he has plenty of weaknesses.)
He's our primary scorer in the 4th quarter -- and he's awesome at 60% true shooting in the quarter overall -- but that means teams finally start to key on him late in the quarter. The Utah game was a perfect example. I think Paolo will eventually grow into the role but he has a lot to learn first.
Keep in mind these are noisy stats (basically 6% of his shots for the year). Franz is a competitor so I suspect he's taking it all in.

FVV isn't much better, and we are all eying him. For what it is worth.

Did anyone catch how they let Paolo take some clutch possessions last night? It wasn’t true clutch because we had a firm lead. He got a shot blocked but looked pretty comfortable.

He's actually worse. It's a weird list because of how the best/worst are listed and had to look twice. Franz is ranked the 'best' of the 10 'least clutch' spots on the list.

He has taken a potential game winner or two for us before as well. Something I am totally fine with. Even if it causes us to lose.

He's going to need to give me 40/15 tomorrow to demonstrate progress in year 3.

How much more do you guys think Franz can improve?

I think he could take 2-3 more 3-pt attempts per game. That would bring his average up to 22-23 ppg. He really needs to get his rebounding over 5 per game, too.

Re: Official Franz Wagner Thread (Year 3)
I always thought he'd be a fringe All-Star that might sneak in a few years throughout his career. But, I don't put too much stock in All-Star selections. I think he's going to end up being a reliable starter that can score and do so efficiently as a second or maybe even third option.
There's nothing wrong with that, by the way. Every good team needs that "second banana" to open things up for the primary scorer and even role players. I think where you run into problems is when you ask a player to be something they're not. For example, Jalen Rose being "the guy" in Chicago in the early 2000's.

I need 38 minutes from him. We need to install a winning culture with preseason game 1.

From SI yesterday: SI link: Orlando Magic SF Franz Wagner Compared to Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard
EDIT: this quote is about F-Wagner's offensive foot work being elite and special.

I get that Mosley compared him to those two but man, if that os the case I couldn’t be happier.

Re: Official Franz Wagner Thread (Year 3)
If i thought that fans, writers, and players understood what it took to win basketball games, I'd say Franz makes many all star games. Alas, i am not sure he will be appreciated for what he is, which is a really good player that helps win basketball games. The advanced metrics are going to love him (except blocks)....
Would just like to see him get his 3 point% up to 38+% and a couple more takes a game...maybe draw one more foul a game too. Then you are talking about a 23/5/4 guy that can initiate offense and is terrific connector, that is a good (not great) defender. It will be the small things that make him great.

I liked how Mosley emphasized the number of drives into the paint without a call.JBSouthpaw wrote:eyriq wrote:That's remarkableKnightro wrote:

Re: The Franz Wagner Thread
I watched the highlights and to be fair he encountered almost no resistance while driving to the rim this game. There were a few missed calls but that happens all the time, so statistically it doesn't seem as suspicious as it did at first.
