So long as Okeke is on the roster, M-Wagner really isn't an upgrade-discussion point.

Vučević is still an outstanding rebounder and an efficient scorer. To sign with Orlando, this would be about ensuring salary many years from now.

That said, would I rather the Magic sign Vučević on a declining contract 70M: 25/20/15/10 or M-Wagner on a 4 for 50M contract, that's a super easy choice of Vučević.

Neither one of these contracts are anywhere close to what these two players are actually going to get.

You're overshooting it, in particular on M. Wagner, by a WIDE margin.

MAYBE if he were to come off the bench and at absolute bargain bin prices, but i dont imagine he will do that.

But it specifically says he will take a bargain discount contract AND take a backup lower minutes role.

Also.. clog the paint? This dude chucks 3s more than wcj even if it sometimes not advisable to do so.
When we talk about discounts, I don't think he'd take more than like $1 or $2m less per season. $2m would really be pushing it because that would be $8m for 4-yrs. I think he'd tough it out in a place he didn't like for $8m.

imo the goal is playoffs next year, and if Vuc willing to defer and take a cut.

you absolutely make this deal. Vuc would feast on benches, he is a 20/10/3 player against starters.

not to mention WCJ misses time almost every year.

Vuc coming back would be awesome. Our center spot wouldn’t have much of a drop in productivity with Vuc backing up WCJ. Not that I necessarily think this is happening but I’d certainly welcome him back. Obviously Vuc isn’t getting a 100 million this time around.

No way thats happening. I can't imagine Vuc taking enough of a cut for that to make sense. Not to mention come off the bench. Vuc is very much a starter.

The more I think of it, I'd pass. If Vuc wants to get a ring with us, he'll have to do it as an assistant coach.

I 100% would be down for him to be a backup to Dell for a few seasons.( on a super friendly team deal). I think it would be great and cement his legacy in orlando(what ever that is lol).

Hmmm, Vuc provides some of the things we need better size, rebounding while still being able to space for Paolo/Franz. Would it be the worst idea to sign Vuc to allow us to use WCjr to upgrade our guards?

Sign Vuc 3 years 45mil.
Trade WCjr, Cole, #6 and #11 for CHA #2 (Scoot) Mark Williams, Oubre(filler/expiring)?

CHA
Cole
Lamelo
Miles Bridges
Draft pick (Hendricks)
WCjr

ORL: sign and trade Gary Harris/Filler for Reeves, draft Scoot

Fultz/Scoot
Reeves/Suggs
Franz/Oubre/Houstan
Paolo/JI
Vuc/Mark W

Would rather bring back Biyombo LOL.
Vucevic is still decent but he's not what we need at back up C.

Vuc certainly would still be one of our better players. Obviously our interior defense doesn’t improve but we got killed on offensive rebounds last season. Vuc solves that issue and would give us another high double digit scorer. I’d much rather have him than Bol Bol. I can see Goga being a cheaper version of Vuc though with some work.

Agreed - basically we need Mark Williams

Not sure Vuc is worth the $ for a backup role on this team

No comment on the Biyombo part though

Problem is Vuc is still gonna get paid and offer a starting opportunity elsewhere. So unless he truly loves Orlando and okay with getting less than 15m a year coming off the bench, then no I don’t see him coming back.

Guys... you gotta see the elephant in the room. I have been saying this a lot.

1.) In WCJ's NBA career, he never went a season WITHOUT a lot of missed games due to injury. When we are in the PO hunt for next season, we can't sacrifice his (average) 20 games missed without a very decent backup. Sadly, Goga/Mo just doesn't have the offensive ability that Vuc has.

2.) We were very lucky this season that both our studs (franz and pb) didn't miss any significant time off due to injury. ( Here is praying this will continue forever ) but just in case, you saw even in the POs key players ( Herro , GA, Butler, JA, etc) miss 1-2 games because of injury. Our F spot needs a MoeW so he is needed.

3.) Okeke and Bol2x are non-factors. We had Admiral to fill in their spot. I kinda prefer an upgrade on that. With Vuc around, we could shuffle it better.
