Yeah, you are right. I think I meant to say that we failed to build sustainable contenders. Trading them all away at some point is sad.

Isn't Hollinger the guy that took his calculator and notebook to an NBA front office and failed?

The advanced efficiency stats are never going to like Paolo but luckily there is more to basketball than stats or else I wouldn't watch.

Who was the last #1 pick that had such an immediate impact on team performance and then was an allstar the next season? Paolo is doing some really exceptional things.

Tru but both of those teams also had key veterans taken a huge burden of those guys( Ingram, McCollum, valencuinus, rozier, Hayward, etc)

Paolo hasn't had anything like that to start his career. It's truly being understated the impact this young man has made on this organization so far.

Probably Derrick Rose. He was an all-star in Year 2 on a playoff team and MVP in Year 3.

Blake Griffin was technically an all-star as a rookie, but he did miss entire rookie season with an injury and the Clippers only went 32-50 in his delayed rookie season.

Kyrie Irving was an all-star in Year 2, but the Cavs went 24-58

Anthony Davis was an all-star in Year 2, but the Pelicans went 34-48.

Zion Williamson was an all-star in Year 2, but the Pelicans went 31-41.

I came to post this. And not only that many had to warm up to idea he was even worth the pick.

I made the draft Paolo thread before he was drafted and fought to pick him before Jabari. I knew he was our guy, and honestly. I am just glad the org saw that I did. We badly needed an allstar and you could just tell he was going to be one and right away. He was the player we needed, when we needed it.

Just happy for the fans and the city, not a boasting post. We all have been waiting 10 years to have an allstar again

As another person on there said, he gave Chandler Parson a bloated contract. He doesn't know basketball. If anything, this further cements Paolo as a great player.
