What is the coaching staff doing with this guy?

He's almost 7 feet and 250 lbs but sitting in the corner shooting 3s looking like a complete stiff! He should be posting up and doing work in the paint

I'd just be happy if Isaac could shoot around 37% from three. That's all the offense we really need from him, plus a few putback dunks.

He's the one guy that will absolutely stay in his lane offensively... I kind of appreciate that, in his case, he knows where his impact comes from and he works at it.

I remember how honest and humble his answers were about learning the C position...he was talking primarily about learning to set really good picks.

That's all I want from JI. A respectable 3pt percentage and concentrate more of offensive rebounds/putbacks.

Concentrate all energy in the defense so opponents are scared.

I don't trust Slim banging knees with other players while setting picks. I think his Center time is very minimal and used when playing other teams small ball lineups in spot minutes every once in a while.

If up to me I'd be exploring what his value is around the league

We need to find another JI type player via trade or draft before we part ways with him!

I really consider the guy at best a 3 string big because he's unreliable

Outside his availability I’m not knocking JI, this season though doesn’t feel as good as last season did with him. Truthfully he just doesn’t fit the timeline we are on and he’s not available enough to play. But that’s not to say he doesn’t have value to the right team and right situation. OKC is loaded with guards and they are a WIN NOW team. Swapping JI for one of their guards makes sense, and if you wanted to wait a month they can also take KCP with him. Isaac , KCP, and Caruso are a pretty nice group coming off the bench for them.

It’s been brought up a lot just how good JI’s contract is and how team friendly it is going forward. That’s also true for any team that trades for him making him even more attractive to Championship contenders that more than likely have a big salary roll already and are in the apron or nearing it. You don’t get a guy like JI cheap but we have managed to work a contract with him that makes him extremely appealing based off ability and cap hit. He could be potentially way more valuable to a team looking for that last piece.

It would amazing if JI could feel confident to do things like this on the court:

He is 27 years old and the contract he recently signed is until 2028/29, how does he not fit our timeline?

We are probably 3-5 years away realistically, what’s JI going to be then? He can hardly give us 20 minutes per night right now and you definitely can’t count on him every game. Cool we have a declining asset on the bench that might give us 60 games per season and 16 minutes per night. Injuries are fluky so we can’t predict them but nobody can argue his career has been injury riddled.

He will be 30 in 3 years, hardly past it.

I understand the injury concerns with him, but that's a totally different issue than "doesn't fit our timeline".

His timing has been horrible. He’s coughing up as many buckets as Mo (but Mo actually scores on the other end).

Needs to get down in weight..... Gaining weight was a big mistake, it was probably due to the Cleveland series as he was getting bodied a bit but I think he over corrected

He has not been as good as last year defensively but the defence is still really good in his minutes according to the stats (102.9 DRTG) and his rim protection numbers are still quite impressive. His impact numbers has suffered mostly because the offense has been a train wreck in his minutes. And part of that is on him, he is never been a good offensive player but he's been quite a bit better than this in other seasons, this year he is both shooting horribly and also a complete black hole, he has 5 total assists this season and only 1 assist in his last 13 games.

Correct. It failed the last time we tried this and it’s not looking great under Arnie Kander’s watch.

The weight slows him down too much. And when he misses games and tries to find his rhythm it’s taking much longer than if he was lighter to get his timing back. And even with the weight, he’s still getting bullied by the better bigs.

He’s not a center. Never learned post moves in his life. Had that brief window in the bubble where he was looking like baby-Durant offensively before he got hurt again. He’s just going to stay in the corners mostly now for us.

I’ve been wanting JI traded or cut for years, but ownership and the front office loves him too much. I also don’t know how many other teams would want him with the injury risk and his personal views. He holds the highest value in the eye of our franchise and no other.

Dude is hurting more than helping with his 26% off the side of the backboard corner 3s.

32% is all I’m asking for my guy. Come on.

Between him and WCJs sub 20%, no wonder why we can’t hit a 3 to save our lives.

Last season, Isaac was the best player on the floor when he played for a long stretch. My only guess is that he's injured.
