So for the people wanting to trade for Trae or Booker, keep this in mind that this is a risky idea. You can probably only make this type of trade once, and after that you need picks and luck to have other decent rotation players.

The other option, which is more standard, is to avoid having 3 max players. I think this is what our front office is doing: to build around Franz and Paolo with two-way players (meaning players that are capable on the offensive and defensive end). The hope thus far has been to stack young talent that will develop into a strong supporting cast. After this season, depending on how we finish out, we will continue with this internal development or trade assets for better supporting players. But I think our trades will be limited to rotation players, not all-star level players that are being suggested.

First i want to say i am positively surprised how many clear headed posters i see here.

Building around Paolo and Franz will be tough if not impossible. For all comparisons to Celtics Jaylen Brown is 6'6 not 6'10 and both can guard 3/4 which Paolo cant do.
Kawhi/George combo also died in silence without elite guard play.
Its tough but i think we will have to trade Paolo in the future.
Booker idea just makes too much sense and Booker has a lot of ties to DeVos family.

Most important trade this deadline for us was one that didnt happen..... Durant or Beal trade.

Suns fan here in peace and reading along. I've actually mentioned you guys as a Booker team this summer over in the Suns forum. I did not know about any ties Book has to your owners tho. Can you be more specific? TIA

You want to give up the guy who is far superior than AB on defense, offense, and shooting, but not AB himself who is the absolute worst fitting player on the team? Literally the worst possible fit around Paolo and Franz.

Trading Suggs would have to be for a star or borderline star. Look at how bad the energy and defense has been without him. Mo definitely would help with the energy as well btw. But Suggs is far too important to this team to just let go. But let's get AB the hell out of here.
They are the same archetype but AB is taller, more durable, and on his rookie extension. Suggs is more valuable and is paid to be our third option. It just makes more sense to move him to spice up our core with more offense.

You really shouldn’t be trying to draw a line between Suggs and AB. Suggs has proven he can help the team win. AB is still trying to prove he can beat his man off the dribble. AB still needs time to become his final form, but if you’re going to issue an ultimatum on the two Suggs will win every day and every night right now.

When AB can start playing Ike Dyson Daniels he’ll have the kind of game that could force a change. But man I would trade AB for Daniels this very second if Atlanta were dumb enough to make that deal.

They still grade out pretty comparatively by Per36. Dyson is clearly the more efficient offensive option right now. It’s close enough that I’m still very hopeful AB can close the gap by the end of his rookie contract.

But regardless, it's all about fitting next to key players.
Daniels is what they need to compliment Young and his inability to guard on perimeter. Even Risacher, as 1# pick is somwhat complimentary player (at least that's how they use him ) as 3 and D guy.

Main problem with Black comes from fact he is just so damn bad fit next to Franz and Paolo. Last week when i looked into 3 men lineup, they had -15,5 net rating. It might be worst now.

i still have no clue why they moved Hunter & Bogdan tho. They have no own pick, Kings pick is top 12 protected, Lakers pick won't land near lottery.

I find hilarious that they, with pretty much same record as we have, decided to throw away season, and Weltman is still riding that " i like this team" bs

Maybe after Jalen Johnson injury they saw no point of making playin from 9th spot and just want to give younger players more min? After all, Risacher is 1# pick

KCP also has a -15.4 netrtg with Paolo and Franz and he is a shooter and conceptually a better fit. Suggs, Cole, TDS, Moe and Harris are the only guys to have positive netrtg in 3-man lineups with Paolo and Franz, but it’s only a 4 game sample for Moe and Harris, 6 games for Suggs and 9 for Cole. Noisy sample sets.

Black does have positive 3-man lineups with Banchero with Suggs, Cole, TDS, WCJ and Harris. In 3-man lineups with Franz he has positive netrtg with Harris, Cole, Isaac, Moe and Goga.

To me it says that AB’s best fit right now is as the 2nd unit guard when Paolo and Franz are staggered.

KCP, meanwhile, only has 1 positive 3-man lineup with Banchero :o
