Well this trade could technically still net us nothing, but on paper certainly seems like a solid move.

Could you elaborate on this?

If the Suns finish with a better record than us next year we don't gain anything.

Look on the bright side, if the Suns finish with a better record than ORL next year...we gain a new FO

2026 draft class seems to be very solid, a top 10 pick will be really sweet

The trade itself that led to this was three low SRPs the Magic was never, ever going to keep. The Suns simply needed players on the roster and took this deal:

Magic Sent to Suns:
2024 second-round pick (via Denver Nuggets)
2026 second-round pick (least favorable among Orlando, Milwaukee Bucks, or Detroit Pistons)
2028 second-round pick (top-45 protected, via Boston Celtics)

Magic Received:
Rights to a 2026 first-round pick swap with the Suns

What an awsome trade for Orlando.

Basically how I understand it is...we get the worst of the picks between PHX and Wash. If PHX finishes with a better record than us then we wouldn't swap because our pick would be better. However if Washington gets the pick at 9 or above...their pick goes to NY or some other team...which means we automatically get PHX pick if it's worst than ours.

So what we should be pulling for to maximum the pick is PHX to be god awful and Washington to be decent and fight for a play in. Washington is probably going be really bad so that probably won't be feasible. As long as they are both in the lottery we got a chance at a top 10 pick possibly.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...
