There might have been more going on than just cap mismanagement or looking for multi-dimensional players.

Zero regrets.

Is he? One dimensional role player with an injured ACL without a market. Not sure what drive up the price but the market was a vet min.

One dimensional player who pretty much carried the bench unit is pretty valuable. Weltman said he had offers on the table from other teams but chose to stay here. he probably took less money for that no trade clause as well.

The no-trade clause isn’t some perk he negotiated, it’s a cap mechanic. It’s a result of us cycling him through short-term deals with team options, not some loyalty bonus.

He was good his first season. Did more than just 3 point shooting. Second year was a regression. Third year was alright shooting wise.

Glad he found a new home.

I don’t think he is that much of a loss for us.

However, I think it shows Atlanta being more serious about contending. They’ve acquired another shooter.

I’m only disappointed because he finally started to show glimpses of why we drafted him. He wasn’t that important in the grand scheme of things but he was developing into a consistent shooter.

Magic board for years - “we suck at 3pt shooting!!!”

Magic let go of a guy who shot 50% from 3 post ASB - “eh, he could only do one thing”.

TDS ‘can do more’, just hasn’t shown he can do anything particularly well yet.

I’m still investing heavily in Jett and think he can restore his value amongst a good system.

Celtics and Pacers have shown the value of getting guys who can light it up from deep. Atlanta just got a steal, and they know how to use guys like him. Good for Caleb, I wish him every success.

What’s your case to suggest otherwise?

50% shooting from 3 over 21 games, averaging 3.3 attempts per game. You expected more than that?

21 games compared to the rest of his career? I’m not buying it from 21 games.

I truly cannot believe the Magic couldn't move Jett and sign Caleb for less money. The dude shot over 50% from 3 after All Star break and decided to keep a bum shooting less than 30% from 3 all while playing superior defense. Caleb >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jett. Caleb will be in the league long after Jett flames out to the G-League or China.

When we got TDS and he showed he can also shoot 3s while being taller, more agile and etc.... writing was really on the wall

Man, preferred Caleb over Jett. But losing Houston is not a big loss.

After 8 years of same old crap you really expect Weltman to change?

He will stick to his bums for ages because he can't admit own mistakes.

Magic wasted half of a decade on Mo Bamba- he was with team until he was 24.
He is without basketball contract at 26.

Markelle Fultz- 5 years with Magic - 10 days with rest of a league after.

Okeke- vet minimum after 4 years with Magic.

That's what Wetlman does. For crying out loud, Isaac has been with Magic for near decade. He didn't suit up for like 5/8 years and got new contracts over and over again. Guy is 28 and people talk about "getting in better shape " , "developing"...

Only complete moron would keep that 2023- 11# pick and just draft guy that nobody had projected going into top 25.

Yet, that's what Weltman did. He could literally trade down to some mid 20s and still get same player. That guy didn't even attend combine because he is so unathletic that it would destroy his draft stock. But probably had promise to be drafted by Magic.

Should have traded pick. We all said it. It made no sense to add two rookies. And i will never forget how some of you defended "G League as developmental path " in his rookie year. G league is basketball purgatory. Grown men stuck in teenage dreams. Nothing else.
