Did we pass up on him in the draft or something? He would be a lock for Hall of Fame if he played us every game. What did we ever do to him?

The Hawks already have our number...with the addition of Bibby, this is one team that I do not want to see come playoff time if i'm the Magic

Everyone got better than the Magic last season apparently, strange how we're sat at 3rd in the East.

I just love how every single trade that happens you have the exact same posters saying "OMG OTIS WE SHOULD HAVE TRADEDAEDASDAS!!"EWQ"

If it were up to them, our roster would change 15 man deep about 3 or 4 times a year; including some scrub FA's that constantly get waived from their teams.

Yes we get it, you want to trade for the sake of trading.

no, is orlando an NBA champ. contender? if there answer is no, then a trade isn't just for the sake of a trade.

teams thats are worse than us are getting better. and could pass us. its worry some, no doubt.

Exactly...Cleveland has had injuries all year & are right on the Magic's tail in the standings....with the Raptors not far behind
Arenas will be back in 2-3 weeks for the Wizards
...and the Hawks just got Mike Bibby, who already OWN the magic!

and were gonna have to play one of those teams in the 1st round...so i would be worried

I don't think Otis should've traded for Bibby, and I'm not sure whether it makes them better against the Magic (who cares how they do against the rest of the league).

However, the evidence is growing that expiring contracts do have substantial value right now, so Orlando is in a good spot to improve. Otis, and other posters, are going to have a hard time convincing me that nobody is available.

Who do you guys think is a better team though?

IMO we have better individual players but they have a better starting 5. Also they are very young and only gonna get better, unless we can get some talented players NOW they are going to be better (if they arent already).

Dwight>Horford
Rashard<Smith (Lewis is a better player IMO but Smith plays PF better)
Hedo>Williams (In a year or two Williams will be better, shaping into great scorer
Evans<JJ
Nelson<Bibby

2-3 Them :-?

do you think nelson is better than bibby? if you think bibby is better, it sure would have helped out orlando's 2nd unit a lot.. and take bibby away from the hawks( who is a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEE upgrade).

LOL I am an not at all convinced on Atl, despite how well they play us. There is a reason they are 7 games under .500.

Something I don't get is that ESPN states that deals can't be done during the allstar break, yet on Saturday they finalized this trade..

From the wiretap news about the Kidd deal being a long shot:

Kidd Deal Is Becoming Less Likely
February 16, 2008 - 4:59 pm
Marc Stein/ESPN -
As time passes it is becoming less likely that the Dallas Mavericks are going to pull off a trade for New Jersey point guard Jason Kidd, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com.

A source close to the negotiations said, "I'd have to say it's going away."

A league source told ESPN.com that the two teams continued to exchange trade ideas on Friday, but the latest obstacle is the new development surrounding the infamous "side deal" involving Jerry Stackhouse.

The league does not permit trades to be completed during All-Star weekend. [READ]

I am curious to what the idea behind this trade is for the Kings.. It's not like they get good talent in return.. Besides Williams all three contracts are expiring so it must be just that. Lopsided trade in favor of the Hawks imo. Now I'm wondering if Artest and Miller will be dealt. I would love to have Artest at SG but we'll see..

If the trade doesnt make sense or doesnt improve us as a team then yes it is.

If the right trade comes our way then sure, I'll do it, but I am not going to bitch and whine about Otis not making a trade. Whats worse is that people think we can just throw our garbage around and automatically be the fore runners in a trade.

I am all for a trade to get a PG or a PF, but like I said, I am not going to want to do a trade for the sake of doing it.

When Artest opts out of his player option, Sacramento will have around 39M in guarantteed contracts and likely 18M under the cap (not counting the cap hold for their pick).

so you think nelson is better than bibby? i dont think thats why i think orlando should have gotten him.

the bottom line is, orlando needs to improve their team, everyone else is.

As for the "rules behind trading".

No trades will be completed until the earliest Monday.

Reason is that literally all office staff from the NBA HQ in New York are all in New Orleans this weekend for the All Star weekend and thus the offices are completely closed.

Normal service will be resumed Monday.
