I don't know why they would trade the pick. The Magic need another relatively inexpensive contract. Otherwise, how are they going to fill all those open roster spots? And how can anyone deny they need another bruiser kind of big?
I don't think either one of those point guards will be available when the Magic make their pick.
You guys are assuming that an awful lot of guys are going to go pro who have not declared for the draft yet -- Hansbrough, Augustin, Rose. I guess that the L.A. Times is reporting today that Love and Collison will go pro.
Personally, I think Hansbrough hurt his draft stock in the Tournament.
Love had better get to work on getting more fit before he plays in the NBA, though I'm sure he will get selected early.
I think the reason that no one is giving who they think the Magic will pick is because there are a lot of factors that we don't know the answers to yet. How many of these guys actually will go pro? Who is the guy who is going to skyrocket up the draft board? Who is the guy who is going to fall through the floor? Where are the Magic actually selecting in the draft? It makes it hard to make predictions when you don't know the answers to about 75 percent of the questions.

cdr is a stud and will not fall to us... he seems to be tayshaun with more o
collison is undersized but seemed to play more than efficent "d", only problem with him is, hasnt he been hurt alot?? not what we need to back up jameer who seems to miss a small chunk of every season
we all talk about maybe using the mle to go get chilldress, but Rush seems like he might be availible in the area that we are picking ..... we could use the mle elsewhere ,posibly a big? rush would be great for us... he is already used to sharing the ball (led team with 13ppg) wich is something we need from the sg spot. also he's gong really long arms and good size, hopefully this would translate into a good rebounding sg, rush also seems to have good range on his jumpshot... all i could think watching him all tournament was i cant wait till hes in a magic uni, i know it might not happen but i truly feel he could be the sg of the future for the magic
as far as tyler.... let some other team take a chance on a draft blunder with him... he has a non stop motor but i just dont feel good about him as an nba player

Drafting a Shooting Guard is an interesting proposition, but not with the expectation of him starting. I doubt he'd be much better than what we already have in Evans and Bogans.
As for Tyler, I doubt that he'll be a bust just based on his production at the college level and his obvious intangibles. He would make a great rotation big for the Magic next year and could possibly be a starter once his jumper becomes more consistent.
To be honest about Rush, he does not really impress me. Doesn't have that killer instinct it appears nor the athleticism to drop jaws. He'll probably just be average at best in the NBA.

Big KU fan..but I agree Rush isn't gonna be that great in the NBA. Darrell Arhur would be the best jayhawk to draft. Perhaps maybe even Chalmers? I think Chalmers will be a decent NBA player. The problem with him is. He was in rotation with 3 other guards. So his turnover numbers are lower and that's been his problem. But he plays great D.
Play Jase or Trade for Alvarado

I actually think we'll get Hibbert and I've been feeling it for a while now.
Koufos has raw talent but needs more time to develop. So he'd be wise to not enter the draft.
If Hansbrough could transition into a David Lee type player then he'd be perfect. Always felt a tandem of Howard and Lee would be awesome. Afterall, we don't need Lee to provide much on offense, but his rebounding and overal toughness is whats needed.

Hansbrough is not the athlete Lee is. He would be a poor man's Lee, and who wants one of those?

I just feel that there is too much bad blood btwn the magic and fran. JJ is expendable if we resign Evans and use the MLE on a guard.
The bad blood is with the fans and Fran, not the organization and Fran. Otis and company bent over backwards to keep a good working relationship with Fran.
JJ or Fran would only move us up a couple of picks at best.

I'd be pretty mad if I was him too, he's not being utilized that much yet he's still scoring a ton of points.
I doubt he goes to Europe though (even though he'd be offered a sh*tload of money just based on his U-18 Euro performance).

Plus one is a Big with a supposedly NBA skill set, while the other is the greatest shooter/scorer in the history of the NCAA...
I'm assuming that would get better than the 16th pick
Try to trade Darko, Kwame and our pick for the #1 pick and see how well this rational is received. JJ and Fran have not played like lottery picks, thus their value is no longer at that level.

I see your point, but remember the Lake show got Gasol for Kwame, therefore crazier things have happened in the NBA...
The Lakers got Gasol for a large expiring contract that just happened to be Kwame. It is a slight difference. The Raptors pick is the highest I think we could go with your package. They have supposedly been high on Fran before, and if they like Redick, they may take those 2 players to swap picks with us. Not a bad deal for either team really as a guy like Tyler Smith would help them at our pick and a guy like Budinger or Arhtur could really help us at the Raptors pick.
