Adding a dominant playmaker in place of a spot-up shooter would be a huge unknown. Very risky. Couple that with the fact that the options were absolute sieves defensively and you can see why someone like Tyus was a nonstarter. The same could be said about my wish list for a three point specialist.

There should have been a massive injury jinx thread where we just poured all of our energy into the void. A healthy Paolo and these conversations return to being moot with a hint of truth again.

I am loving the fact that watching us struggle pretty much full stop silences the "Paolo is eMpTY sTaTs" crowd. Someone has to put the ball in the hole and "the guy" and it seems like its in that kids DNA to do it and do it embarrassingly well based on what we have seen.

I don't recall a Paolo is empty stats movement...if anything, his immense individual talent OVERCAME ORL's lack of offensive game plan and lack of offensive playmaking (beyond Franz). Suggs is great, but just because he's WILLING to go iso - doesn't mean he's any better at it than his twin, KCP. Suggs may get develop more of a playmaking game, KCP now knows completely who he is and isn't.

His numbers that surround efficiency are lets just say bellow average or at least were last season. I never bought into the narrative that he was solely an average player putting up good stats on average team.

We imploded so hard without him, he might be a great player pulling an bellow average team. Granted, that west coast trip was super rough. We played several contender hopefuls with our best player out.

KCP leads the team in minutes played and is a rock solid defender.

13-24 on 2PT is great. 17-17 on FT is great.

He's just gotta make more threes. Very simple. Everything else has been as advertised.

KCP is a career 10 ppg scorer and most of it he spend playing alongside Jokic and LeBron. Why would he score more with Paolo even if Paolo was availavle?

Watching the games he is getting the same exact looks he was getting on those teams and he is here. I mean he is completely wide open a and just bricking it. It has nothing to do with playing with LeBron or jokic. He is just flat out missing open shoots.

I don't think anyone was really expecting him to score more on the magic but we absolutely were expecting him to hit open 3s. And he just hasn't done that yet. But I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt since he is a proven vet. Well see

No one is expecting him to do anything different other than make open threes.

So far this season he's 6/22 (27.3%) on "wide open" threes which is no defender within 6 feet and 5/23 on "open" threes which is defender within 4-6 feet.

So in 11 games, KCP has gotten 45 open or wide open threes and he's made just 11 of them.

That has nothing to do with Jokic or LeBron or anyone else not generating him enough quality looks.

This is just a good shooter missing shots he should make.

Dude is making 21% of his 3s (his supposed strength), 32% overall and is averaging 6ppg....not exactly what you expect from your 22m a year 3&D "huge offseason addition"

I said when we signed him that he was just a taller, more overpaid Gary Harris, and at this point I WISH he was as good as gary Harris

Cause and effect.

If he was simply hitting his average from 3PT over the last five seasons, he would have 21 made threes instead of 11.

10 extra three pointers made would be 30 additional points.

He'd go from 76 points scored in 11 games to 106.

His PPG would increase from 6.9 PPG to 9.6 PPG.

He just needs to shoot the ball better. Period.

Just dropping into this thread to quench my thirst for some overreactions.

Ill take the career worth of work vs the last 11 games for KCP. I'm not even high or low on him as a signing, just like to be sensible in my judgement.

Magic curse on shooters is still in effect. So sad.

I was higher on goga LAST YEAR and was hoping when he signed his deal that it would signal that we were moving on from WC. I hope that still happens, but as long as WC is here, its likely his job to lose

I think what Goga does is more consistent than what Wendell does. To Wendell's credit, I think he guards big centers like Embiid and Jokic better. I think they should both be in the rotation at least while one of either Paolo, Isaac, or Moe is out injured

Then the question at some point has to be do we want to win games.....there are numbers that say goga is only behind wembanyama in defense among centers......its hard to justify sitting goga if he's playing this well, especially if you're a "defensive" team

Wendell is +1.6 in D-EPM and Goga us +0.5. I do think Goga got in the hole against OKC, and his numbers have been going up.
