Charlotte Bobcats 1st Round Pick

Magic buyout Carlos Boozer, who is free to sign with a contender

Magic roster:

so we'd trade for boozer and then pay him 45 million to go away? don't think devos will do that.

Well presumably the buyout would be for something less than his full salary. Bobcats pick and shedding 3 veteran contracts would be an important move for our teams development though

Iirc the Charlotte #1 is top 12 protected this year and unprotected in 2014? If so, that is an extraordinarily valuable pick...A likely to 5 pick in what looks to be an incredibly talented draft.

It's top 12 this year, top 10 in 14, top 8 in 15, and unprotected in 16

When discussing deals to be done for picks with the TPE, you kinda have to frame it in the context of, 'How much cash would I pay for 'x' pick?"

For instance, in the Boozer discussion....granted the Charlotte pick is valuable, but would you bid $45 million for it right now if it were up for auction? No owner/GM in their right mind would...and that is basically what they would be doing by taking on Boozer's contract in exchange for getting the pick.

So figure out what the 'appropriate' cash price is for picks in various years/positions, and that is the level of contract we should be targeting to take back (with some adjustment if the player still actually contribute some value through their level of play).

Then once you have that figured out, add about 50% to it because our GM is a worthless goof.

I would even go as far as taking on Perkins with Harden for Redick/Afflalo (whichever they prefer) part of the TPE to absorb Perkins deal and either Ayon + one of our crap picks or Vucevic.

Wow, that seems like a horrible trade for us.

The 'three veteran contracts' your shedding are much more attractive than the combination of Boozer and hamilton. The point of using the TPE in a case like this is for Chicago to 'buy' the right to give us their undesireable contracts by sending along something we want - the Charlotte pick in this case. Harrington will be a valuable trade piece, and Redick already is a valuable trade piece as well as a valuable sixth man and bench scorer.

And I'll ask again, why are people in a hurry to send out BBD? The guy is a hustle player, a leader, on a very attractive contract for a 15/8 starting PF, and only 26.

I doubt OKC wants to move Perkins. With Dwight in LA, he has a chance at rekindling his loive for defense and he's been pretty effective against Dwight in the past.

Bro i suggest staying away from the crack pipe.

we trade Nothing straight up for Boozer and their 2 first round picks. maybe throw them a bone and give them a 2nd round pick

I'm torn on BBD i like that he is taking charge and stepping into a leadership role but at the same time i think he's valuable out there in the market.....BBD had a great showing in the playoffs and i think it raised his value....if we can get something good for him i would like to explore that.....because i don't want it to turn into a Jameer situation where we hold onto him for too long and he becomes worthless.....but if we do keep him i hope he can continue his high level play from the playoffs.....oh wait we're tanking so.....damn it i don't know lol

I was wrong about protection on Cha pick. That obviously changes things.

In any case, the goal is to suck. Happy to trade BBD or any veteran to ensure that

The goal has to be lock in a star or two through the draft and then sign another one or two through free agency once we get our drafted star. That's the only way we can turn this around relatively quickly.

glad you arent able to make decisions for the Magic then. That is horrible. as raw as Vuvecic is, right now he is still better offensively than Perkins.

the myth of Perkins and his defense against Howard. lets look at the games.

last game, DWight 33 pts, Perkins 4
previous, DWight 11 pts, 15 rbs, Perkins 6 pts, 4 rbs
previous, Dwight 28 pts, 13 rbs, Perkins 0 pts, 13 rbs
previous, Dwight 16 pts, 13 rbs, Perkins 2 pts, 3 rbs
previous, Dwight 19 pts, 10 rbs, Perkins 4 pts, 3 rbs

so can we stop already about Perkins being able to shut Dwight down.

not only that when perkins came to okc he lost an assload of weight to become more finesse because he didn't have to bang against dwight in the playoffs anymore. perkins now will get eaten alive and he didn't do as great of a job as people say even when he was in boston. okc would do well to get jason collins? idk if thats his name but the guy in the playoffs when we played the hawks who pretty much shut down dwight the whole season. he could come off the bench in limited minutes and somewhat keep dwight in check.

“I’m happy to have Iguodala on the squad,” Faried said to HOOPSWORLD at Baron Davis’ charity kickball game. “I was kind of disappointed to let go of two of our better players who have been here for a while and helped us really mold our team. Especially Al Harrington. He’s been with the team for a team for a while; he was really there for us. He helped me as a big guy and as a rookie. He really showed me things that most of the guys on the team weren’t really able to. He really helped us stretch the floor and Arron he was more to himself but he really helped the team when we needed him in crunch time playing his hard-nose defense. “

You are not alone. I think he's a good player, but not deserving of a max contract. He's simply a scorer. He's not a franchise player. He's a contemporary Ginobili that needs Parker and Duncan to be successful. Unless we have those other 2 components, getting Harden doesn't change much for us.

Rather have Rudy Gay anyway
