So if we:
Waive Orton.
Waive Anderson.
Waive JJ.
Stretch either Richardson or Davis.
Jameer opts out.
Clark opts out.

We would be at 41 million and that is without even making a single trade.

Could leave us with:

Dwight
Davis/Harper
Hedo/Q
Draft/Veteran
Deron/Duhon

If they would both take less we could be better off. Build through the draft and with the MLE.

I'm shocked most of you still want Ellis. He was an option for the old regime looking for a quick fix.

Wait..Is that acurate? I said the same thing a little bit ago and someone refuted it for some reason. I'm far from being a capologist but I initially thougt the same thing. Thats an overhaul, but if thats evn remotely possible I hope they explore it.

doesnt exactly work like that...

you would have

dwight
hedo
quentin
duhon
davis or richardson
harper

under contract, meaning you would have 6 capholds at like 800,000 each, which adds 4.8 million to the salary, plus ourdraft pick which is another 1.8 million bringing it to 6.6, so your number goes to closer to 48 million, and im pretty sure im missing something... its pretty much impossible to get dwill

that roster would just be waiting for josh smith or iggy to become a free agent. 2013 dream team:

deron
iggy
perry jones
davis
dwight

If Hennigan feels it is best to move on from Dwight I would like to work a trade around:

Gasol to Houston
Bynum & Lowry to Orlando
Anderson & Dwight to LAL

^^some filler contracts/picks may need to be thrown in but thats the general gist of the trade

2013 we could look like:

Lowry/Teague
JJ/Liggins
Iggy/Hedo
BBD/Clark
Bynum/Backup 7 footer

Great deep defensive team that has a top 10 pg in Lowry who's a great 2-way player, lockdown perimeter defender and good playmaker in Iggy, best offensive center in the League in Bynum, 2 of the league's better roleplayers in JJ/BBD and more roleplayers off the bench.

That team matches up well with Miami too IMO

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think cap holds work like that. I think they only apply to free agents that a team might have.

Okay two things, first, If LA could turn Gasol into Lowry they would do it themselves as their need for a PG is much larger than their need for a center.
Second, Houston are not trading for Gasol, that deal only happened because Houston wanted to team up Gasol and Nene, who was a free agent at that time, now they have no reason to trade for Gasol's abomination of a contract.

Wall and Rubio aren't better than Lowry.. you forgot Parker too. Lowry rounds out the top 10 pgs at 9 or 10 imo

If we were able to pull off that three team trade, I would be so pumped.

Lowry and Bynum would be a very, very good PG/C combo.

Much better than Lopez/Brooks and picks from Brooklyn
I like this team

Steve Kyler ‏@stevekylerNBA

Steve Nash tells SALM magzine --- "I’m not one of those people who believe I must win [a championship] to have a fulfilling career."

Steve Kyler ‏@stevekylerNBA

More from NASH --- "so other factors, such as salary, family, playing time, and opportunity for team success all factor in."

i dont really want nash unless its for a year... we need youth and players that can be developed... nash would have been good under the old regime, since otis and stan had no idea on how to develop players... but i feel like henny and whoever he brings in, will focus more on player development, rather than spending lots of money through free agency, which is the way to go in the new CBA.

IMO, in the new cba, the way to build a team is in the following order:

1. Player development (draft, young free agents, throw-in's in trades) (Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, Harden)
2. Trades (acquiring proven veterans, but not eating further into your salary cap, in exchange for spare parts that make close to or the same amount of money, and acquiring young prospects and/or draft picks, to develop) (Perkins, Sefolosha, Maynor)
3. Free Agency (to sign veterans or fill in minor holes) (Fisher)

the reason i put free agency last is because if you do a successful job at developing your young talent, you A) won't need to overpay for someone to do the job, and B) if you overpay for someone through FA, you wont have enough money to sign your now-proven young players
