Because in this day and age a GM can't catch a few college games and be able to speak to other GM's about trades by phone?

The comment was included with the intention to show Denton knows alot about what is going on and talks to Otis often.

If we arent doing this deal because of money...then you can all get used to being mediocre for the next 7 years.

This team is not going to get better through the draft.

And it will get worse when Hedo's deal is done.

If this deal doesnt go through because of money im turning into a Dwight and Hedo fan and not a Magic fan...I just cant support being content with being mediocre

Why would that be so incredulous to you?

Land lines, cell phones, internet, VPNs, jet planes, etc ...

I've always wondered, do GM's sign a sheet of paper saying "This is the trade" How does that work? It obviously can't just be an over the phone thing, right?

All you needs is a cell phone and maybe a computer to discuss/agree to a trade.

I'd imagine they have people at HQ who can work up the papers and fax/email a PDF/etc them.

I really don't think a GM would be working up a legal document.

from wiretap

Orlando Sentinel -
The Orlando Magic are reportedly shopping the expiring contracts of forward Pat Garrity and others as the league heads into the trade deadline, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

GM Otis Smith is looking to add a defensive-minded forward, like Kurt Thomas, and is trying to use the expiring contracts of guys like Carlos Arroyo, Maurice Evans, James Augustine, Keyon Dooling and Garrity as Thursday draws closer.

I hope he knows that he won't get anything for a $700,000 contract.
