Wow... :o

Your not going to get Ellis..who did you even give up? JJ and that's it?? Let's be realistic...

Getting Smith is realistic b/c we can offer him the most money. Then getting Sessions or Nash via trade is also a realistic option and both are pass first PGs, exactly what we need. Smith/Anderson/Dwight is all the offense we need from our first unit. Bring in Turk with JJ and Baby in the second unit and you have a championship level team that does it all.

 I'm not saying we are. I'm just looking at how incredible that team would be

I think that if the Magic used the MLE to get JR Smith, that will put them over the Luxury tax, so he will cost even more to us than his actual contract. There has to be another move made in order to accomodate him into our roster.

I don't think it's the excitement of adding another SG but the excitement of another move being possible if Smith is acquired.

Big picture.

I think a lineup of

Nelson/JR
J-Rich/Redick/JR
Hedo/J-Rich/Clark
Anderson/BBD/Clark
Dwight/BBD/Anderson/

Bench fan: Q and Duhon doing the 3 guitar all they want then..

Of course Clark would be used as needed.

Kevin Martin had his first scoreless game as a starter in a 93-83 loss to the Grizzlies on Tuesday. Martin attempted three shots in just 19 minutes of action, but would not say that he should be more of a focal point of the offense.

“I don’t need plays for me to get going," Martin said. "I’ve been successful in my career just getting in the flow of the game. I’m over there chilling. It is what it is at the moment.”

Martin’s frustration was more about getting benched.

“Sometimes, it’s nothing about the number of shots,” Martin said. “It seems like a lot of things have changed in the past two weeks.

“If we’re winning and I’m sitting, I’m happy. Tonight, we got beat and I’m on a 10-day contract leash. I’m not happy about that just because we lost. If we’re winning, I’ll sit over there for 48 minutes.”

I was looking at Kevin's stats the past few games... and I was scratching my head at his numbers. Now this explains it.

IDK if I want a near 30 year old Kevin Martin... BUT! ... maybe we can use Houston as a trade partner to snatch a good player (Ellis?)

Magic Receive: Monta
Rockets Receive: JJ/J-Rich
GSW Receive: K-Mart + IDK

Something like that would work for all teams

If we do end up with Smith/Ellis/Nash, SVG definitely has to tweak the offensive scheme. We'd now have players that can successfully drive and finish at the basket consistently. And for Smith's sake, SVG better not tell him to camp out behind the arc and shoot when open.

I'm not sure how confident I am SVG doesn't put the shackles on Smith when he arrives. Haven't watched him enough to know if his game was significantly different than J-Rich's when he arrived in Orlando.

Tweak his offense? He could essentially show up with a blank offensive play book and focus only on defense with a guy like Nash on the floor. Okay maybe thats going to far, but he could trust his PG ALOT more than he can now with making plays.
Also imo Stan doesnt tell his players to camp out behind the arc, those are the types of players that we have. The one guy other than Jameer that can get to the basket doesnt get burn for some odd reason.

Why does this team have an obsession with players who can only score and play zero defense..... So stupid. We need a pg not another shooting guard and we do this. Amazing.

Why not Nelson/JRich or Nelson/JJ. Monta plays the point. I don't know how I feel about Smith and Monta backcourt though....

nope, we need someone that can create their own shot more than a playmaker PG.

J-Rich needs to kick rocks.....Too inconsistent and virtually brings nothing to the table that Redick can't emulate
