under contract, meaning you would have 6 capholds at like 800,000 each, which adds 4.8 million to the salary, plus ourdraft pick which is another 1.8 million bringing it to 6.6, so your number goes to closer to 48 million, and im pretty sure im missing something... its pretty much impossible to get dwill

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think cap holds work like that. I think they only apply to free agents that a team might have.

And I doubt that team makes the playoffs. If we want to rebuild, then we shouldn't try to trade for a mediocre playoff team. It's the worst place for an NBA team to be.

Thanks for this post man, I thought I was the only one who doesn't like Kevin Martin in a trade with Houston.

Not a bad player, but absolutely not as good as some say.

He would be trade bate or we could just make it a 3 team deal where Martin goes to Minnesota

Gasol to Houston
Bynum & Lowry to Orlando

^^some filler contracts/picks may need to be thrown in but thats the general gist of the trade

2013 we could look like:

Lowry/Teague
JJ/Liggins
Iggy/Hedo
BBD/Clark
Bynum/Backup 7 footer

Great deep defensive team that has a top 10 pg in Lowry who's a great 2-way player, lockdown perimeter defender and good playmaker in Iggy, best offensive center in the League in Bynum, 2 of the league's better roleplayers in JJ/BBD and more roleplayers off the bench.

That team matches up well with Miami too IMO

CP3 Rose Rondo Westbrook Williams Nash Irving Wall Lawson Rubio and Nelson.................jk about Nelson lol

Wall and Rubio aren't better than Lowry.. you forgot Parker too. Lowry rounds out the top 10 pgs at 9 or 10 imo

Wow you serious?

^ I've never heard about cap holds on non free agents. I also can't find anything that proves it. Can someone provide a link?

I read something a few months back that stated that if a team has less than 12 players on its roster on July 1, then all spots between the number of players on the roster (in our case 6) and 12 , hold a spot at 800,000 I believe.

I could be wrong, but it is something to that effect. This is because it would be way too easy for teams who have everyone expiring the same year to have 60,000,000 in cap space that summer.

Instead they have 12 spots occupied by 800,000 each. Again, I could be wrong, I'm not quite sure

Cap holds (or roster charges) for teams with less than 12 players under contract are prorated at a rookie minimum salary -- or $473k.

If I'm Hennigan I'd be dangling JJ along with #19 to move up.

Dead serious. You probably haven't seen much of him but he's a great 2-way player who's all-star caliber (but the point guard position is very deep).

In a perfect world, yes. But no one is gonna be knocking down our door to acquire JRich, unfortunately. That four year deal was atrocious from a longevity standpoint. Should've been a two year deal with a team option for a third.

That is my top 20 at this moment in time. 11-20 can change at any time really, and I expect Wall, Rubio, and Knight to get into the top 10 in the next year or 2.

i agree with this list... lowry is very underrated

And you'd dangle Duhon before JRich... we know, but neither of them have any value in a trade.

I'd dangle my peepee (la fritz) in front of Kate Upton, but 1. I'd likely land myself in hot water with the law and 2. I doubt she'd be interested. Like teams when offered J-Rich.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.
