It’s definitely a lateral move for Dana in terms of P5/G5. He’s giving up the chance to ever coach for a national title, but he gets a pay increase and frankly he probably has a better chance at reaching a NY6 bowl by winning the AAC than he does ever winning the Big 12 frankly.

West Virginia can pay someone else a lot less money to go 8-4 every year.

everyone except Holgerson. And I think WV can outspend Houston for Dana's pay. As for better chance, all he had to do was beat Oklahoma and they came very close to that.

edit: didnt see that it looks like already done. Holgerson will regret this move real quickly

I dunno about that.

One of the big reasons why West Virginia granted Holgorsen permission to interview in the first place is because they didn’t want to pay him 4M a year.

He can go 10-2, 11-1 at Houston and compete for NY6 bowls every year. Throw in a bigger salary on top of that and it is kind of a no brainer.

This might have been his most talented WVU team of his entire run they still went 8-4.

they are already paying him $3.8mil, so i have some doubts about the credibility of that report.

Let me rephrase.

WVU can pay a whole lot less than 4M to get a coach who tops out around 8-4 every year.

There’s no reason to pay a top 20 salary for 61-41 in 7 years.

They can go hire Neal Brown from Troy for literally half that and likely get the same 7 to 9 win caliber team every year.

I remember when Rich Rodriguez was the hot coach coming out of WV, then he flopped in Michigan.

lucky for us, he had actually accepted the job at Bama, but then his wife came down with him after the fact and didnt like Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, and he reneged. very lucky for us, as we ended up with Saban

Yeah that was luck.

Today is Urban Meyers last day as Ohio State, so it's a sad day for the Buckeye fans.

Urban Meyer is like our Saban so I'm sure Day won't be as good. Recruits are already reneging.

My prediction is that he takes one or two seasons off and coaches at ND.

Tough loss.

The stage seemed a little too big for Mack. He was just too inaccurate and scattershot when throwing the ball.

Even still, the Knights had chances to win the game. Gabe Davis who is one of the most sure handed receivers I’ve ever seen drops a sure touchdown.

25 in a row is a helluva run and not one that I’ll soon forget.

So sad to see the streak end, but I am actually surprised that we made it through the last leg of the regular season with it intact.

This year’s team always felt not quite as good as last year’s....from the ugly defensive stretches to the passing game taking a significant step backwards even before Milton went down.

It will be interesting to see how the relationship between Heupel and Shannon plays out over time. If I remember correctly, Shannon was brought on before Heupel was hired and he kind of had to ‘inherit’ him.

good gritty game by UCF. showed they are a good team. but like the Temple game, saw some borderline dirty plays from UCF. That hit on Burrow was strong, but to me it looked like 91 did hit him in the head. and then stood over him and flexed. I mean cmon, you outweigh him by what, 80-90 lbs and got a blind shot on him, did you really need to flex over him? chippy game all day on both sides. cant believe LSU even had to play WR's at defensive back. not sure how i feel about the targetting penalty, taking a player out. I dont know if i think it should stay the way it is, or give a 1-time warning and then next time player is ejected.

I have no problem with years like this year where Bama runs the gauntlet and really is the best.

The problem I have is years like last year, when they do get beat and lose the SEC conference and somehow still get to play for the national championship. If the committee expanded to 8 teams, I could see them put in a three loss Bama team in the playoff over a one loss team. Not cool.

i would debate somewhat. We didnt "lose" the SEC, we didnt get to play for it. Tied Auburn with conference record. And we had to beat Clemson to be able to play for the championship. yeah, they get the benefit of the doubt that other teams dont get, i wont deny that. though we also play in the toughest conference in football week after week.

Great game. Great season. Congrats to the team.

Unfortunately, this is the ceiling for our program.

Early signing period is complete. We still sit at #50 in recruiting and can’t even reach #1 in this lowsy conference.

Meanwhile, UCF continues to turn away good opportunities to grow the brand through meaningful games.

First the penalty that Charleton got like come on that was nonsense for the referee to throw the flag but if that's the same its going to stay than our players can still celebrate but just don't it with the football or by showing up an opponent.

Second the Mack Fumble it was what it was, getting stripped by Devin White who will be a 1st round pick in the NFL.

Third, Mack had at least 1 throw to Gabe Davis and Tre Nixon that both of them should have caught but other than those 2 incompletions, most or the rest of Mack's incompletions were bad.

Fourth, We still the undefeated streak of 2 seasons for the regular season/ conference championship game so until we lose a regular season game or the conference championship game, We still got this streak going.

Fifth, We have to improve the defense for sure.

Sixth, We only lost by 8 points so this is a close loss. We almost got the ball back at the end with the onside kick, It could have bounced our way and maybe a potential drive to tie the game.

Seventh, How much would UCF have really gained by beating LSU other than keeping the undefeated streak alive? Playoff and Conference expansion will happen eventually not just because of UCF, There's much more than UCF for expanding the playoff and a particular conference.

Until they expand the college football playoff/ UCF gets into a power 5 conference, Our season is basically win enough games in the regular season/ conference championship game to make one of those new year's 6 bowl games. So next season the goal is to make the cotton bowl.
