I'm down with JRich esp with his salary. He's paid exactly as he deserved IMO unlike the disgusting contracts I hear being given about to other players

I'm with you. tbh, I think we're a good small forward away from making noise in the post-season again if Dwight were to stay. I can't understand why BBD or J-Rich would want to sign in Orlando knowing we may possibly enter a rebuilding phase. Both are guys that could easily play on contenders. But again, I think this team can compete with a good small forward like Iggy or Josh Smith.

Nelson and JRich are at their worst starting caliber players and have peaked at star level production throughout their careers. For Nelson that the was first half of '09 and then again in the playoffs of '10, while for JRich it was '05-'06 and then again in the '10 playoffs and the early part of '11 while with Phoenix. Not ideal #2's but they fit the model that Orlando has thrown on the court during the SVG era.
Hedo and Baby are low usage role players. Hedo brings shot creation and three point shooting while Baby brings Heart and Hustle. Neither needs to be shooting the ball to maximize their impact and should compliment what Nelson/JRich bring quite nicely.
Then off the bench we turn to offensive specialist Redick and stretch-forward Anderson for some great offense, while Orton is looking like a solid option for 12 mins behind Dwight. Who backs up Nelson remains to be seen.
I'm with you on this, but DH isn't going to give it a chance. If the big three in MIA didn't exist, then this would be a pretty good team.
Miami ruined everything...
I could feel excited about that team tbh, it has the balance of our '09 team. Favorites to win it all? LOLno. Contenders? I think so.

Based on what was written on the NBA.com hangtime blog J-Rich basically gave us 60% discount
he stayed true to his word cause if you remember at the end of last season he mentions at this point in his life it was not about money but to win. but it will be all in vein if we can't find a way to keep Dwight

We've got until the trade deadline to get value back for Howard. If our new team isn't enough to change his mind then we switch to rebuilding mode.
Remember when Kobe elbowed Jameer in the chin so hard Jameer was knocked down and sent skidding across the floor?

Stating the obvious here, but the big 3 in MIA ruined everything. Dwight saw that and realized that there was no way in hell he was going to win a championship by himself(being the only star).

I'm standing firm with having faith in Otis. I'm not going to lie, it kind of pissed me off of how some of you have jumped down Otis' spine, especially in part IV and now are possibly seeing some light at the end of the tunnel as he may have duped a lot of you, including most media outlets. I've been on board with the Lakers deal if they include Bynum and Gasol while taking back Turk's contract for sometime and have been grilled for it because some of you can't see straight when the homer glasses come off.
IDunkOnYou & Darth Magic, i've agreed with every single one of your posts throughout this saga and I couldn't have said it better myself. Kudos
Now, some of you have already touched on it (think it was Chunny 1st) but this puts in a very nice position to upgrade at PG (CP3) if a Lakers deal goes through for Bynum and Gasol. We have a lot more leverage than we think we had and this is ONLY day 1 of Dwight's trade request being publicly known.
Otis still hasn't done jack, I don't know why you guys got so much fate in him. I still want him out unless he pulls off a miracle.
Fire Otis!

he had a meeting with stan, and maybe stan has been watching film all summer creating an offense with him as a focus. but Fegan is what makes this so confusing... your own agent is trying to take the best player from the magic to another team, but wants to sign you on the magic on the cheap??

...I just watched Dwight presser from today, and I honestly feel bad for him. Never seen him go that long without smiling. Appreciate what he did for us, just wish he would hold on a little longer, and Otis would have some sort of epiphany and make a good move... but alas seems we've been dealt a specific hand.. hopefully we can still compete without our ace high.

I must be missing something too because I haven't seen or heard otis do anything; yet some of these guys talks like otis cause the Lakers to miss out on CP3 and already forced NOH to take our trashes for CP3.
Fire Otis!

He's so conflicted. I don't think he wants to leave at all, but he's scared. You can see it in him, he's scared if he doesn't go now he'll never win, which I don't blame him for. When he said that line it came off as a sort of, "well if this is what I have to do to make you take me seriously..." type of thing. But I think he's as good as gone unfortunately. Sad to see it end like this.

i'm already assuming that isn't the end result, but if it is, let's just compare it to the starters of the other 'contenders'.
C: Chandler/Dalembert, Z, Noah, Perkins, Bynum, ONeal
PF: Dirk, Bosh, Boozer, Ibaka, Gasol/Odom, KG
SF: Marion, LBJ, Deng, Durant, World Peace, Pierce
SG: Stevenson/Terry, Wade, Korver, Harden, Kobe, Allen
PG: Kidd, Bibby/Chalmers, Rose, Westbrook, Fisher, Rondo
there are a few 'weak links' in there (Stevenson/Korver/Chalmers/Fisher), but for the most part they are all strong, and i don't see where our guys win many match ups other than C.
do you?
we need at least one difference maker playing alongside Dwight. none of those guys are difference makers.

It's one thing to read the interview, but it's another thing to actually watch it and hear Dwight say it. Voice, intonation, stress, everything. He sounded so sad and heartbroken. Genuinely loves the city or Orlando. You can tell. You could also tell he didn't want to make this decision but it had to be done. It was killing him. I feel bad for Dwight honestly I do. Magic execs failed him imo.

The one thing I like about this is Otis' whole "he's still on our team", "he hasn't been traded, he requested a trade", "our plan is to keep him here... forever" speel.

Agreed. If there was ever a time to appreciate Otis' stubborn ways, this is it.

For the names in bold, just a few questions: Are Dalembert and Stevenson on new contracts? Did Big Z decide not to retire? Has the Celtic deal for O'Neal and David West gone through? and is Bogans off the Bulls making Korver the new starting SG? Just wondering if I missed on these players being moved, etc.

J-Rich needs to kick rocks.....Too inconsistent and virtually brings nothing to the table that Redick can't emulate
