We could sign Deron to a 10-15mil deal with 0-1 trades I think, but there's been 0 indications that the Magic and Deron would even think about it. Deron is probably even a little soured with the Magic too for helping to stay patient and keep Dwight so far, and unless Turk is traded now, Deron won't get a max deal at all.

The worst of it all even more is that because we're trying to dump the roster for cap space and Turk/Duhon are garantueed deals now, that we lose players like Jameer, JJ, Ryan, Clark instead of players like Turk, Duhon, J Rich. And after Deron signs a Max in somewhere like Dallas or Brooklyn, we're in a devastated spot when some of those players could've been kept on 1 year deals with their bird rights still.

I know it still makes sense to try for Deron right now. I'd explore it too if I was GM, and the next year the bad contracts like Turk and Duhon are basically gone and we can get another big player. But Chris Paul is also a FA in 13 and we'd have max space if needed and a shot at like retaining better rotation players to boot like JJ, Jameer. So I'd be among the teams waiting to midnight of the FA to talk with Deron but unless he gives strong indications he's up for a 15~mil deal (maybe a short deal until his bird rights kick in and the Magic can TO him and extend to max?) and a 1 year gutted Magic roster with Dwight until more cap space comes, then I don't bother either. It would certainly be one helluva twist this summer though, Deron would have to really want ORL to make it happen.

The D-Will to ORL conversation ends right there. D-Will is getting a max deal and we can't supply that.

I can only attribute this to Ron Jeremy being the coach in Orlando for the past 5 years

Exactly.

Probably this number will be a lil bit higher this season, idk, 500k.

Bulls starting to look DESPERATE. I can see moving Deng but Noah is a big part to that team.

They r in trouble next year plain & simple.

I'm surprised they would want to move Noah... he's pretty much their heart and soul defensively in the interior on that team... Deng I can understand moving... He's a good scorer, his defense is astounding, he made the all-star team (increased his trade value), but he's not a dynamic player or a play-maker... I think the Bulls want another dynamic scoring SG or SF to pair with Rose... but I don't know anyone out there worthy enough to be in a deal except for one (Joe Johnson? Getting old, bad contract... Iggy? Some can argue that Deng is on the same level as him, pointless trade... Ellis? People will say that he won't fit with Rose in the back-court, both will be undersized)

The one player I can see the Bulls going after in a trade is Josh Smith. He could be the target if I had to make a guess. Wasn't there a Deng for Smith rumor a year or two ago? Keep an eye on that during draft night.
------

Also on a separate but similar note, I wonder if the Pacers will still try to go after OJ Mayo.

It's not as dumb as you may think imo. They may be better served financially re-signing Asik and Gibson and trying to receive a high first round pick to add a nice 2 guard.

I always think that good front offices can flip the surplus of talent they have at one position to make up for a weakness at another. If they can turn one of their starting caliber centers into a starting caliber shooting guard, it may be worth it.

Nonetheless, with the injuries to both Rose and Deng, they will struggle next season. Long-term, moving Noah may not be bad for the Bulls. They have to get something in return for one of Asik or Noah. They don't want to squander assets.

I would like Noah on this team but unfortunately we do not have a high draft pick..

if the Bulls want a high draft pick then they must have someone on their radar.

if the Bulls go that route then the new CBA looks to slowly be making an impact. sounds like they could value the depth of Asik + Gibson on smaller contracts than Noah on his big $10M deal. and if the Grizz go ahead with a deal for Gay so they can keep Speights and Mayo, then the CBA will definitely be having an effect.

I could be wrong, but it is something to that effect. This is because it would be way too easy for teams who have everyone expiring the same year to have 60,000,000 in cap space that summer.

Instead they have 12 spots occupied by 800,000 each. Again, I could be wrong, I'm not quite sure

This is correct. I thought you were adding cap holds on the existing players. My fault for not understanding what you were saying.

Edit: I'm not sure about the 800k number though. I don't think it's that much.
