With his 1 minute played, Trevelin Queen has now logged a 3rd NBA-season-played for his pension plan!

Sometimes it's the little things that matter.

Boxscore thoughts:

Orlando lost the FG% battle and lost the game.

Orlando had 6 more TOs, of which the Magic gave up 10 steals.
Orlando had 3 less offensive rebounds and 5 less total rebounds.

THe Magic had 13 players log time-played. I think that's a seasonal record.

So: some (terrifying) stats.

The Sixers lead the league in points differential.
They are 8th in rebounding differential
Also 8th in FG% differential (my favorite stat)
And 3rd in 3-ball FG% differential

An odd one: 4th in FT% differential (should that even be a stat???)
** because they lead the league in FTA per game, and made FTs per game). **
That is: the team that gets to the line the most is also the team with the 2nd highest FT% rate. WOW!

And a painful one for a TO prone team like Orlando, the SIxers lead the league in steals per game.

In conclusion: bet the over that this game will have at least 40 total FTs attempted between the teams.

And finally: JUST WIN!

These stats aren’t super relevant with Embiid not playing.

Well: we were both wrong.

The Sixers lead the league in points differential.

The Sixers EXTENDED their point differntial.

They are 8th in rebounding differential

The Sixers had 5 more boards.

Also 8th in FG% differential (my favorite stat)

The Sixers dominated FG% differntial.

And 3rd in 3-ball FG% differential

The Sixers embarrassed the Magic in 3-ball FG% differential.

In the end, the only premonition that didn't hold true is on FTs taken. Here the Magic did a better job than the Sixers finishing with 9 more made FTs.

I did state: bet the over on more than 40 FTs attempted. That bet would have been won as there were 41 total FT attempts combined.

The thing is that the Magic was within 6 earaly in the 4th. THis was a winnable game. The energy in the mid-4th quarter revealed Orlando's lack of depth in this game.

The Magic on a BtB: it showed!

I will add though: it's time to bench Black. Orlando needs "some" scoring from the PG slot.

We won the game we needed,Yesterday;this was a schedule loss,as any btb.

We are still far above our goal and in perfect position to reach It.

True, btb r tough, but if we stick to our strengths, we can beat anyone

Getting an extra scorer is not the issue.

Also, playing without JI and Joe hurts big time

That will require a trade. A guy like that isn’t presently in-house…otherwise, I completely agree. We’re way WAY too dependent on Paolo & Franz crashing their way to the rim all night, every night. That’s an unsustainable way to make a living.

It’s a beautiful thing to have when you need a bucket…but not every bucket.

We are such a young team. Maybe the team will grow up and be relevant by the year 2030

This sort of analysis is just too simplistic.

The Magic don’t go into any game saying “oh well we’re not going to attack the basket or play strong defense”, ya know?

The issue is that smart and tough defensive teams like Philadelphia are good enough to limit Orlando’s primary plan of attack and the Magic lack the personnel to counterpunch by making wide open 3PT shots that are being conceded.

In addition to that, Philadelphia is also top of the league at steals and all those turnovers and all those missed threes lead to runouts the other way which makes it impossible to defend at a high level the entire game too.

The Magic “got away from the game plan” because Philadelphia took it away. Not because the Magic played stupid basketball.

Couldn't listen in. Family / end of year bills seem to have more plans for me then the other way around.

It is, what it literally is.

My thought remains tired legs and injured bodies. We will see how the rest of the games go from here.

The team is badly missing Ingles, the playmaking is so much worse when he doesn't play. The amount of idiotic turnovers we have had lately is pretty embarassing and we have been struggling to get good looks in pick and roll action, except again the Wizards who barely tried on defense. Paolo and Franz are good secondary playmakers, but we badly need a reliable primary one. And when Cole doesn't shoot well, he is pretty useless on offense because he is so limited as a playmaker.

And it's easy to say "just attack the basket more", but good defensive teams won't allow this unless you force them to do it by making 3s. Every coach in the league knows 3 point shooting is our weakness so it's no brainer to pack the paint.

Also, our limitations are especially noticeable on the second night of a back to back when it's not really feasible physically to outhustle the opponent. It's no coincidence we are so bad in such games.

Miami without Jimmy Loss
Phila without Embiid loss

Black went from being the man to AWOL

ofc its all expected....

still disappointing it wont get any easier than playing teams minus their superstars
