Official 2024-2025 Magic General Season Thread I

Normally 14 games is solid sample to make some observations.... This year... is bit wild

For start we are only one out of three teams on East with positive record.
Somehow, after 14 games, we have played 3 games vs teams over .500 and 11 games against teams below (or at) .500

Due strange setting of schedule, we now played 5 games at home in a row. 2 of them against teams with lowest W count (76ers, Wizards) and Pelicans who lost 10 of last 12 due epic injury list.
Soon we will play 5 games on a road in a row.


Our defense is legit top 3-5 in nba. But here is another crazy kicker- only 3 out of 14 games we played teams who are top 10 offense- Cavs, Grizzlies and... Nets? , but we played 6 games against top 10 worst.

Same with best defensive teams. 3 games vs top 10 defense, 6 vs top 10 worst.


Even in context of allstar game this is crazy. Cavs and Celtics might have 5-6 all star players this year.

Yea a Lotta losses gonna coming soon. Everyone here should be prepared for that. The non Franz minutes will absolutely kill us on the road if we have virtually no offense and the 2nd half defense will drop off a bit without a homecourt advantage. Franz won't be as consistent with the workload and against better defenses and will have normal off games too.

76ers had Embiid against us. We played most of the "good" teams without Paolo. I don't think this sample size means much, I am sure that other teams are missing people early (Kings?).

Went to the Orlando Pride Semi-Finals game win over KC. It was an epic game and victory. Marta is unbelievable at her age. Made the most epic goal all time. On towards the Finals!

I don't look at it from a pure schedule stand point. But the point is we are improving game after the game through this stretch of life without Paolo. Yes, we lost 5 in a row after his injury. But those teams are all on the road plus they are probably the worst stretch of our schedule whole season.

The point is we have improved especially from the sample example of games against Pacers. We lost on the road at Indiana. That game we were trailing by more than 20 points at one point. But at home? It is a convincing W. Why? Because we improved and our defense was dominating.

I am not too worried about life ahead especially when we take this road trip. But at least we can nail some Ws even at Phoenix and at Los Angeles. I can't wait to see us beat the undefeated at home Lakers. That would be so much fun.

I would kill for a 4-5 years younger Ingles. Was always one of my favorite players.

Ingles was trash in the playoffs. Harris was at least playable.

I’m fine with out Ingles. Moe is averaging more points this year.

This is matching my eye test.....specifically remember one possession Paul George trying everything in his bag vs franz and had nothing for him, franz wasn't biting on anything very disciplined

Naaaah. As much as I love Jingles, this team knows their identity. They know how to scare teams. They throw out Suggs KCP AB and Gary to opposing guards like wave after wave and they get worn down.
