1) 22yo Paolo goes for an "inefficient" 30 pts with 5 & 5 and gets dissected for it

2) 21yo AB scores 3, passes up open shots, and hears "did you guys see his footwork in the second half of the 3rd quarter? In 3 more rookie seasons, he'll be an All-Star"

it's reaching Fultz/Payton levels of absurdity. oh man did you see him he tied his shoes and dribbled the ball up the court

Now why did you put it that way? Black is already better in that category.

Actually, Fultz can tie his shoes with one hand...Black needs velcro

How bout tat AB tonight! 3 made threes tonight, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. And also he played 30 mins tonight.

I am kinda hoping for Cole's return. But AB keeps cooking.

45% from 3 post ASB. 2.4 attempts per game. 16 games.

Love to see him string together these good games, especially against good teams.

He had two buckets tonight where he used his body to bump Gabe Vincent and create an easy layup in the paint. That was the most promising thing for me. Learning to leverage his size against smaller defenders will be huge. I mean even if he doesn't end up being a pure PG; if he's on the court with Paolo and Franz a wing isn't going to be guarding him, will likely be someone smaller than him.

As a whole he hasn't been productive this year, but I think it is easy to see a floor as a quality 3&D guard/wing. The corner set shot looks really good. Last year he basically did only that and the shooting numbers were better, this year he is handling it way more, so naturally he has struggled a bit more with shooting efficiency. I appreciate them giving him the chance to develop, maybe he will hit his upside as a ball handler, maybe he won't.

Next year will be big really big for him. And hopefully he can string together some more good games to close out this year.

Swiss Army knife when he's at his best...more Ingles than CP3 but definitely can contribute to winning when he's aggressive and physical with smaller guards. I still like him as more of a KCP than our answer at PG.

The laces were in for him last night. Even though I couldn't actually watch the game. I listened in....

I do not know anymore what I am seeing from him. Yet, he is doing it against teams that are more prestigious and that has to be worth something to his confidence.

The challenge is he has way more tools in the woodshed on offense then what I have seen from most 3&d specialists. As you say, swiss army knife of tools.

I'd like to see him take 4 attempts a game from here. Just let the chips fall where they may and try to run a few actual plays that give him a look to get him in a rhythm.

"Black Ice" is a real thing in Florida. "Triple A" is the other nickname I have for Black.

Including tonight's game, over the last 5 AB is averaging:

26 mpg
14.8 ppg
60% (5.6 - 9.8) fg%
57% (1.8 - 4.2) 3fg%
91% (1.8 - 2.2) ft%

4.25 apg
4.6 rpg
1 spg
1 bpg
2.75 tov

Team is 4-1 over this stretch.

Is this a Jack & The Beanstalk moment of a growth spurt? Whatever it is, it's a great result. Love to see it for the kid.

What's Derrick White's stats for his last 5 games, you ask? 14.5ppg, 6apg, 4.5rpg, 1.8spg, 2.3tov, 40% fg% and 33% from 3 on 9 attempts - in 33 minutes.

AB putting up numbers that keep company with the big dawgs!

Eventually this team seems destined to be: Black/Suggs/F-Wagner/Banchero/some-Center.

It will be interesting to see if that is what starting night for 2025/26 brings.

Don't want to get that far ahead of ourselves.

We definitely want / need Black to play at this level in this role.

I think what I liked about yesterdays game from AB is that he had a very bad shooting night but was either ; given the green light to stay aggressive, or just literally stayed aggressive. My thought is, team captain Paolo is whispering in his ear that this is needed from him and Mosely who is more of a character guy is letting the chemistry happen.

I don't know if I am seeing shades of Iggy or something else, when Black is aggressive all the tools in the woodshed come out and it turns him into something else. I don't know if he is capable yet to do this all the time, but when you have defensive magnets of Paolo + Franz it helps that Black is starting to get the mindset of making opponents pay for it.

Also, little more then I want out of Black 2-8 3ptA but he kept shooting on a night you NEED to keep shooting to not crash the entire offense and he also seeked his points elsewhere. Bravo.
