Potential project pg, combo guards are not in the Weltman mold. Lewis is the most Weltman- like but propably gone, Terry is small, Maxey is small, Hampton fits but cant shoot (still the most interesting?), Anthony is small and propably gone.
I would try to hunt for guards with our second round pick: Flynn, Butler, Riller, Ayayi, Winston, N'Doye.
Weltman will propably try to grab a wing like always though: Hughes, Bane, Woodard, Smith, Stanley.

I am confused by this narrative. Question: do you think Orlando needs to improve guard play over forward play. Yes or no?

..

Well guard obviously, but we know Weltman is very strict in his bpa aproach. Its hard for me to see a bpa guard in our range.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I could see them drafting Saddiq Bey too. They were rumored to have liked Oubre last year which tells me they don't see AG as our future SF.

Josh Green is going to be our guy and I'd be thrilled if we land him

With all due respect, I don’t agree with this at all. I think there are quite a few options for BPA guards.

I have not given up on Devin Vassell falling to us. Let GMs overthink the draft and want more than a 3&D glue guy.

He very well would be a BPA guard.

But yes, mocks are starting to agree with me more and more and he is solidifying himself at the back of the top 10. So maybe not.

Still, we have Kira Lewis, Aaron Nesmith, Theo Maledon, RJ Hampton, Josh Green and a few other names at the PG/SG spot who could easily be considered BPA by the time draft night rolls around.

I didnt wrote there isnt, but looking past its hard to wite bpa, guard and Weltman next to each other ;)
Dont get me wrong, if Vassell falls to us i am all in on him, same with Kira and propably Green. After watching film I dont like Hampton, he handles the ball awkwardly to me, same with his finishing ability. Josh Green is propably the most Weltman like guard after Vassell, i need to watch more film on him to form a good opinion.

With all actual respect, this is why WeHamm makes a lot more money than we do. None of as arm-chair GMs have any vision for what BPA actually means, after all.

But I do think that whatever BPA does mean, WeHamm will draft Mr. Wonderful as such.

I do think management accepts the team has enough defense, and now needs shooters.

I like Jahmius Ramsey’s game. Doesn’t really solve our weaknesses but kinda reminds me of Oladipo with how hard he plays but with a beautiful stroke from 3 already.

Someone just needs to teach him how to dribble haha but he could be a good long term investment imo.

If we go for shooting, what position exactly we want to upgrade ? I dont think there is a prospect of Fultz caliber, and he is a potential shooter. Fournier is a great shooter. Gordon is below average shooter, but we have replacement already in Okeke. There is no prospect of Isaac caliber in our range. Vucevic is a fine shooter for a big man.
So now we search for potential backup ? Dj and Ross are great shooters, Aminu is average shooter, mcw is bad shooter, and Bamba is a good shooter for young center.
If we want to upgrade shooting we need to develop or bench Fultz, trade Gordon, prey Okeke is a starting material, or draft a shooting wing/forward. Drafting a shooting guard doesnt solve our problems other than replacing Fultz/DJ.

He reminds me a lot of Donovan Mitchell, and he just turned 19 yesterday.

the more film I watch the more im falling for Jahmius Ramsay, his long arms/wingspan is so alike Mitchell. He will be good. His shot is so smooth. Alot to work with, very young as well.

I quite honestly wouldn't be that excited about this draft even if we had a top 10 pick. It's a pretty mediocre class imo. I'm still holding out hope for Vassell but with our front office's track record they would more than likely pass on him even if he fell to us.

Top-5, I agree. But the middle pack has some interesting concepts. Boom-or-bust types, so to say.

Recall that I supported the narrative that Dončić was a transformative prospect that Orlando could/should have "traded its roster" to obtain. Am I keen on even a straight-up Gordon for the rights to Edwards deal; no not really. Top-5 I think is super dull this year.

But: I would bet Your soul that one of: Cole Anthony, Onyeka Okongwu, Théo Maledon, Precious Achiuwa or RJ Hampton will emerge as a multi-year All-star. Which one? I am not smart enough. But the mid-range draft looks great for the Boom-bust types.

Maxey is the guy that interests me the most so far for Orl, if he falls. Would love us to get out from under the Torch's deal and draft a SG.

Vassell, the Beys, Maledon, Kira Lewis, the kid from Vandy, etc...lots of interesting role-players I'd welcome...Who are the "swing for the fences" prospects in our range?

has to be Pokuesovki or what ever his name is? Maybe RH hampton is the biggest risk/reawrd as a SG. Id be happy with Maxey, Tyler Bey, Maledon or Lewis. I think Maledon fits best with Fultz

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on if they are looking to alleviate “certain” contracts if they manage to land a diamond in the rough. Skill sets also matter with bench depth. Meaning that drafting someone that provides nothing new off the bench wouldn’t make sense. Orlando lacks a scoring punch outside of anyone not named Ross. That should be an indicator.

Than again, what do I know? They selected 3 Prospects with length metrics and defensive aptitude in consecutive years without actually addressing roster concerns.

Return to Orlando Magic
