Wow
The hype around Isaac is seriously over the time
People really seem to think he's some mix of Kevin Garnett, Kevin Durant and Tim Duncan
In reality he's a 7ft Bruce Bowen with a body that can't hold up to even a bunny hop let alone to rigors of the NBA

What I mean is I rather have a ship and 10-15 million a year than no ship and 300 million. Why well because if I win a ship I have accomplished something that money can’t buy, still have money and the ability to grow after because I helped my team get to a ship which could result more growth professionally and financially.
Got to play the long game here. Not just financially but mentally. You also can be charitable at the same time. Sometimes charity is helping those right in front of you. Guidance. Wisdom. Those things are priceless.
You can say that NOW but if you were in that situatio ? I doubt it.
15m a yr with a ring for say 3 years? Thats 45m in nba contract but really just maybe 20-30m NET money.
If you are in that select pool of people where you live in 3-5m homes, have cars and etc for another 2m... plus your usualy vacations... thats gonna burn up fast.
Unless you totally cut yourself off from the nba life and be like adam morrisson bunker lifestyle.
You doubt because you wouldn’t.
I could live quite well making 5-10 million a year. I live pretty well now. I do not care about the “NBA life” nor do I care or value that life as some final destination to what would make me happy.
The mental challenges of becoming a champion would something I place a greater value in. Mental challenges are more valuable then to me than multiple cars and homes and fame. They carry unseen value that can be passed on long after money is spent.
Would I turn down 300 million? Depends. What sacrifices would I have to make? There’s always strings attached. If I played the lottery and won 300 million I wouldn’t reject it. I wouldn’t succumb to it either.
No because I too could live with 1m/year. However I have some friends who I know live with 3-5m/yr. And no we are not living the nba lifestyle. However, those friends cannot survive on living with my lifestyle.
As I said, in an analogy, Im used to shopping in toyota/honda dealerships while they are used to benz/bmws. I go to outdoor trips around the globe traveling economy while they go with their families first class to Paris , Milan , etc

I mean these user numbers are more than a bit skewed by Meta tying it directly to everyone's existing Instagram and making it where you can automatically follow and be followed by your entire IG lists.
We'll see if it actually gets used at a high level or not.

As of July 6, the Twitter-like messaging app has garnered 40 million downloads worldwide. In the U.S., Threads amassed 5.5 million users, or 14% of total downloads. Threads receives 25% of its sign-ups from Apple users and the remaining from Android users.
Less than 24 hours after its public debut, some people are already skeptical of Threads' controversial policy that prohibits them from deleting their Threads profiles without also deleting their corresponding Instagram accounts. Even though users can delete individual posts and "deactivate" their accounts at any time, meaning they can just stop engaging with the app, many are still taken aback by this policy.

Trade deadline could be interesting if the right name is made available. Who that name is? No idea. Would be a team doing a mid-season blow up like we did with Vuc, AG and Fournier.
But Weltman is against making a move to put us over the top. He wants to wait and see if our draft picks will bloom. So trading expiring contracts is not a strategy here. We will continue to do what we've done. Let expirings run out on it's own course and use the money towards extending our players (Fultz, Isaac, WCj, Moritz), and in the future (Franz, Suggs, Cole, Paolo). That is the only place that our big money is going. $75M in cap will only go to our current guys. Small money will be used to supplement our veteran holes (Harris, Lopez, Ingles types).
As perfect as Porzingis was for us, we were complete non-players for his services. Lillard would be amazing here, but no, we're aiming for 2030, lol.
Listen Wellman s latest interview, he explained why we didn't push the chips this summer and why we could/would next Feb or next summer
Bold moves incoming
Orlando will not be a title contender this season and the floor goal is the play-ins and the ceiling goal is the 1st round of the playoffs.
Year 4 F-Wagner and year-3 Banchero will be poised to make noise in the 2024/25 season. Orlando looks certain to have a a top-15 starting Center and a top-20 PG (let's not argue about who Mr. PG is please) . The roster also looks to be loaded with bench depth now at all positions.
I would like a big move by the trade deadline only in that the roster can be solidified and late season games can be used to prep for the 2024.25 season. If I was a gambling man, I would bet on G-Harris, Anthony and the Denver pick for a SG upgrade at the deadline. Some team that is underperforming that has a top-15 SG. For example, Brooklyn could be surprisingly horrible this year and then might want to unload Mikal Bridges. Orlando might need to throw in additional picks for that quality of player. But I see a benefit (now) for PBO Weltman to patiently wait for the market to come to him.
p.s. I still dream and fantasise about Mr. Kennard in Magic blue. So: please suck this year Memphis.

So, the Americans will see the centre right and far-right on Twitter and the centre left and far-left on Threads. Even less communication between and more bubbling the echo-chambers. What could go wrong in the States with that?
To basketball, I would assume most NBA players would move their Twitter accounts to Threads. Any evidence of that yet?
p.s. Happy thoughts.

Yes, the interview is posted here somewhere. He said lottery picks aren't going to be gifted 30 mpg like in the past.pepe1991 wrote:“The days of a rookie soaking up 30 minutes just because he’s a lottery pick are over”. -Jeff Weltman

Ugh western civilization, ideology politics, forced inclusion, diversity etc, i know i will avoid both places
I hate those politically covered social media. As you said, there is no dialoge between sides, rather fake bubble world of people who think like you , so you think you are "fighting the right fight" when in reality you are just in semi-utopian-semi- communist-state of mind where you treat everybody who thinks different as enemy.
In general more "social "media out there, dummer younger generations of kids are raised into grown adults.
Like, it literally takes you 5 min of tik tok to end up being directed to live feeds of what can only be desrcibed as pedophilia heaven.
Imagine world where 18 years old man didn't know that "boiling water challenge" on tik tok, and pouring on other person can be dangerous?
Or that putting car on drive, low speed, leaving car and dancing near him sounds like a dumb idea and is accident waiting to happen? Well...

I have never heard the word "evaluation" used so many times over so many years by a front office of any sport anywhere, ever.
Weltman needs to change his title to President of Evaluation.
He confirms theyre not going to be FA/trade players. Too busy...... wait for it......evaluating!

Players that could be available this year. Jerami Grant, Paul George, Towns, Brooke Lopez, Nurkic, Simons, Kuzma, Clarkson, and Middleton.
Brooklyn, Clippers, and Boston are teams that need PGs.

i wouldnt mind trying to snag Simons. Maybe if they didnt have him Portland would be more open to taking Herro. to me, he is just as good a scorer as Herro, but less $$ per year and 1 less year.

Very cool Weltman. Is this dictating how Mosley manages his lineups?
Almost sounds like he justifying his decision to draft a rookie to play behind two other guys instead of making decisions to appropriately manage roster construction.

Right now Black is a third stringer and Howard is a forth stringer. How are either rookie going to get 30 minutes?
Howard in particular will log DNP-CDs. When's the last time lottery players got loads of those?

Who knows how many of the guards will be injured at the beginning of the season. Black and Howard can backup the SFs, too. The other 4 guards we have are all under 6'4" and can't really play SF.drsd wrote:MagicMatic wrote:eyriq wrote:?t=LJ8jSgtq4X81NWCzu5Pf0A&s=19
