Seems like Chuma did ok last night? I had to miss the past two games but they both went as I expected (minus AB having himself a great night vs Wiz)

I dont know why we are playing Wendell, we were fine with Goga, Wendell doesnt look healthy, and than I hear we are raising his trade value, he is losing every bit of trade value he had. Just bench him and say hes injured
Play Jase or Trade for Alvarado

Paolo with an 89 offensive rating on 30% usage hurts. Cole with 4 turnovers on 1 assist hurts. AB with 4 assists on 0 turnovers is NICE.
But yeah, just a hideous offensive game.

Like I have been saying it's all the dribbling and slow decision making. He's kind of like Melo in that aspect. Melo always had good games when he made quick decisions with the ball.

Again, the team needs a real, consistent, steady point guard. And shooting. It feels like every loss is for the same reasons.

I don't really understand the take that we are sucking at shooting 3s. Go look at our stats this year and pretty much all of our rotational players are shooting 3s regularly are doing so around 36% or higher except for Franz, who is horrendous this year, and the injured players (Carter, isaac, harris). I guess Mo shoots like 1 a game at 32 percent, but I don't think that much matters.
I guess we could be shooting more threes, but we would need to trade Cole and AB for pgs that can fit passes in narrow lanea to open shooters.

We are 28th in the league in 3 point percentage and 29th in 3 pointers made per game. And one of the teams behind us in both categories is Detroit, which is about the break the record for worst losing streak ever. In the last 10 games we are last in both of these categories, even behind Detroit.

They can get by with poor shooting IF the defense is immaculate and Paolo/Franz have amazing games offensively inside. That’s a tall order for every game. Just even average shooting would help at this point.

Point guard/lead guard is the biggest weakness on this roster by a mile. That would be the spot I would be looking to address immediately.
Agreed. Fultz, Black, Cole, Suggs, Harris... My hopes in them are slim to none.

I don’t think our shooting is as bad as we’ve been lately or what the season average % shows.
In November we shot 36.9% from 3. In December we’ve shot 31%. Both are the same amount of attempts, 29, but in November we averaged 1 more make per game overall.
I think we’ve got room to stabilise considering the poor shooting from Paolo (27%), Franz (20%) and Harris (22%) have had in December which is below their career averages.
We can always add more shooting and improve but it’s worth acknowledging how bad this slump has been and that some return to the norm can be expected.

I have been saying this as well. Take our best shooters as few as they are and just put them all into a slump and you have the current Orlando Magic roster.
Could we get better at it overall? Sure.
Should we be shopping our expiring + picks for a veteran shooter? Again, I think so.

But maybe November was the exception, not December. Paolo is a poor ft shooter too, nothing guarantees that he should keep shooting above league average from the 3pt.
Currently we are making 10 3ps per game (last) on 29,7 attempts (last) for 33,7% (28th), something need to be changed in terms of personnel/rotation. The next team above us that is in a play off spot in terms of three pointers made is Denver (22th) with 12.0 3ps per game, but on much better efficiency - 38,1%. It's a miracle that we are top 6 team right now, a miracle that wont last very long.

More than anything we need a legit perimeter scorer we can count on a nightly basis to take the pressure off of Paolo and Franz.

Franz really sucks this season, and he takes the highest amount of 3s. He's shooting 28%, and I think the league average is 36. He should defer to Black and Suggs.pepe1991 wrote:Ducklett wrote:I don't really understand the take that we are sucking at shooting 3s. The Suggs|Houstan|Franz|Paolo|Goga lineup was garbage, as was the Cole|Houstan|Franz|Okeke|Moe lineup. With injuries carrying over to tonight's game I hope they fix rotations.

Question is do we need just a scorer or also pick and roll ball handler. Franz is in 66 percentile, Paolo 28 as a p&r ball handler. Some of it is lack of 3 point shooting, but lets not kid ourselves they are not genius passers. In perfect scenarion Paolo should be #2 and Franz #3 option. There are flashes of #1 and #2 but who really knows.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Both.
But all the good teams seem to at least have a good/great perimeter scorer.

Considering their age still. I think those flashes are the future.
